Hmm, I'm surprised there are no comments about the new CV15, I think ergonomics will be better since I find using a tab to be somewhat of a pain, the size increase will be worth it if it's IQ is much better.

I wonder how much more telecentric the new 15mm/4.5 will be. Presumably Cosina’s designers reformulated it to play well with M9 and M240 bodies’ sensors.

Very interesting! No longer such a tiny thing. I've got the L39-mount version and it's wonderfully small. But, it's hard to get color images with it on the A7 that don't have cast.
I was contemplating switching it for the 12mm, which actually works better. But, this new one might be the way to go.
Yes, I also like having a real focusing ring better than the tab on the current one.

Clearly the CV15 is not a true Heliar as not 5 elelents but 11 in 9 groups. Sometimes they just use it as a brand it seems. Is the 40 is a true Heliar design? There is a newish 75 that is a true Heliar and the 75/2.5 Heliar is really double gauss.

i've been contemplating the 12mm vs 15mm dilemma as well. the 15mm always looked better centrally and is a better focal length for me, but the 12mm has better corners and less color caste. hopefully we'll see how this performs on the a7 series soon...

Derek - I agree. I owned the CV15 but just couldn't deal with the color cast. I know there are ways around it but I like to keep my PP minimal if possible. The CV12 looks to have much less color cast but is a little wide for my taste. Carsten posted some great pics with the A7 though. I would like to try it out if given the chance....

If you set "saturation" in LR to -100 the problem goes away

It figures they would bring out a new one after I just bought one. Oh well as Gary said after I bought it no worries about colour cast on the Monochrom. Though I must say I have been enjoying shooting this lens.

Agreed. The tab is just more difficult to find. And I just bought my CV15 a few months back. Gah!

My, that 35 looks absolutely scrumptious!
I used to own the 15, but the 12 is noticeably better, at least the old versions. This may not hold if this new version has been optimised.
12mm is a photographic challenge! I absolutely adore this lens. It looks quite a bit larger than the 15mm, but in real life it is absolutely tiny. And the angle of view is just so dramatic... To be honest, I would not recommend it to anyone who shoots primarily outside, it just has too much angle of view for almost everything, but inside, there is nothing like it.

I do have the CV15 II, shouldnt this be called #III? If it's as good on FF as the II are on the Sony APS-C sensors I'll be very interested.
That's not fair! But it is already a good lens on FF if you are reasonable, so if the new one is better, get it! Unless you prefer the 12mm, which is even crazier.

I do love the looks of that 35. 1.7 compared to Zony 2.8 and Loxia 2 it will definitely be an interesting gauntlet.
Understand, many people love the look of new VC50f1.5 as well, which is another too much for me design.
15MM I had has very disappointed A7 performance, not only color edge but also low micro-contrast cross frame and huge vignette, guess new one at least address the vignette due to bigger design.
