Browsing through this enjoyable stream reminded me of my favourite "dog shot", captured on Bagnall's Beach near Nelson Bay.... this very wet dog raced up to my wife and I as if to say... "please throw this ball!".... which we did

Hey Luke, what do you mean by raw food? Like raw hamburger?
Dog specific raw meat diet. In our case we just go to a smaller farm up in the valley and they prepare portioned mix of beef/pork/veg. They also have tripe etc. They raise and kill their own livestock. Food comes in a minced form frozen blocks that are 0.5 pounds each. In Bruce's case - he gets half of his daily portion in kibble and half (1.5-2 thawed pucks) in raw. We often add some cooked squash or other veggie to it. I'd switch him to 100% raw but kibble is just convenient when road tripping. Got a small freezer thats basically full of meat for Bruce.
It's similar to surreymeatpackers.com just smaller operation and less expensive.
We lost our old Samoyed mix today. Originally my mother's dog, she was with us for nearly 10 years. So here is a pictorial tribute. The first picture was her first visit to our house, and the last was just a few days ago.

Sorry for your loss, Bruce. What happened that your mom's dog became your dog?
Sad to lose the ties Furkids bring us such joy in their short lives.

Thank you Cat. Mom passed away when she was nearly 90, still independent and active, so a life well lived. It was well-understood that her dog would become our dog when the time came.
The timing was weird, though. Red Dog, 9-months old, full of energy, and badly in need of training, had just joined our household a few days beforehand. Adding two dogs at once is not what I would normally recommend . . .
Red Dog is six years old now, better trained but still full of get up and go. Here she is watching dog TV - there is a baby rabbit in the garden just below "her" window.
Sad circumstances for sure, and I'm sure adding two dogs at nearly the same time is just as chaotic as adding two cats...
I can relate, when my grandmother passed many years ago (she raised me from when I was 5) I wound up bringing home her cat, that I had brought home from high school 18 years earlier "for the weekend". Cat experienced her first car ride, from Boston to Dayton... and since I was driving alone, I tried a cat carrier, but she was miserable in that. Twenty miles into the drive, I stopped along Mass Pike, let her out. She climbed into my lap, curled up, and was happy. Getting out to put gas in the car proved interesting though, she didn't want me to leave. Cat lived another three years before she passed. I'd already had 3 cats and a dog in the house when I brought her back.
Take care!
