I have the lens but I haven't used it on the a7 yet. I'll mount it up and shoot some samples for you. Are you just interested in close focusing or do you want to see different distances?

Jim Colwell might well have an idea how this lens performs on FF, although he probably uses it on Canons (shouldn't make a difference, apart from the lower dynamic range on the Canons).

I use this lens on my 5D2...don't have an adapter just yet for using on my A7r. But if it helps, it's an excellent performer on the full frame Canon.

I have had the 120/4 Mamiya, it is an excellent lens. I still have access to it and I do have the A7. Might get a few off this weekend and I might be able to compare it to a high quality zoom (Leica R 80-200) at the same setting.

one of the best macro lenses, I have one and use it often on my Canon but haven't on my A7 yet. It is huge!!!

Here you go! A7r with Mamiya 120mm f/4 Macro A lens (using 2 lens adapters Mamiya-EOS/EOS-Nex with a Novaflex collar). For the price its an amazing lens.

Used it and the Mamiya 150/2.8A on Canon and now use both on Nikon (D800e & 3S) - two of my never sell lenses. Bloody brilliant.

+1 @ the 150/2.8A ... nope, you can't have mine, either.

The fact that you can mount it to any brand FF (larger image circle/longer registration distance) means it is a keeper for the ages, imo.

I've got the little brother to the 120/4 in the form of the 80/4 Macro ... otherwise I'd probably have the 120/4 also.

Ahh, that's right, the Mamiya A 150/2.8. I had forgotten about that lens.
I can imagine that it is quite light weight and manageable size too on the A7.
They aren't that hard to find and do come at a fair price.

Any chance of a full frame 2.8 shot from the 150 A to keep the thread going?

My 120 arrived weds. Adapter arrived Thursday. I'll post some quickies from this morning. It's a honkin' huge lens, but it's pretty amazing.

It's a peach! The Mamiya 645 A 120/4 works extremely well on my FF Canon DSLR. This time next year, I'll be using it on a new high DR, high MPx camera - just don't yet know which brand it will be.

I agree that the A 150/2.8 is also fantastic, and the A 200/2.8 APO is even better.
