Wow! I sure did make alot of grammatical errors. Doesn't surprise me though.

I wasn't actually referring to your post, just stating it in general from spending far too much time on the interwebz

I really like your shot above by the way. Not sure a D810 would make it any better, but it would obviously print a little larger

Dear "J,"

I suppose I should not be surprised that you chose to announce the end of our relationship in such a public and cowardly way. You were never one for subtlety and discretion.

And, so typical of you to blame all the failures on me. As though you contributed nothing to the breakup. But, then, I guess since you contributed so little to the relationship, I should not be surprised.

The truth is, I've known for a long time this wasn't working. If I could have ended things myself, I would have. But as you know, for me this was an arranged

Oh my dear unfocusedmg ... very, very welcome to FM from my side, too. I was never interested in you or one of your brothers. Now, after I got an idea of your SOUL, I am! I am very happy with your little sister, and I guess she is happy with me, too. I never thought about before. But I guess it is time to look for you and let the family grow. Kisses and hugs! I am looking forward to implement your capabilities and your mind in our families power to love and create the world.

You are welcome to enrich my life. :-)

I will never understand why people get so upset and have such a rivalry towards the opposition.

I think people take it too personal.

This was from my last outing in florida

I hope you enjoy. If not ,,thats ok too!!

J, beautiful image, well captured

And BTW, you misunderstand many a reply, they have nothing to do with using different manufacture's gear, the opposition as you put it, it's about redundant posts like your original story.

Additionally, if you intend to practice your prose, satire in this case, at least use a spell checker, perhaps have a thesaurus at hand. If you're going to be a professional, follow through a bit more concisely, do put as much effort into your writing as you do for your photography...it's just kind of bad for your image

Lastly, this reply is commentary and opinion...with a touch of starkiness or is it sarcasm...it's meant in fun, like your OP! I'll checkout the Nikon forum from time to time, hope you post a few D810 images and your experiences/impressions using that beast. Competition is a good thing, Canon and Nikon have been at it it seems forever, as have their users...

Cheers,
Jerry

Pick an object, computers, cameras phones, etc, and after a while the other side seems greener. Resist the temptation.

Is this so? In my case: I switch to a new computer every 4-5 years. It is my third acer now and I guess the next one will be just a faster and cheaper one, too. Cameras? I shot an analog Minolta for 15 years. then I switched to Canon in 1995. There is no greener side for me up till today. And I did NOT invest in lenses of any brand. I still own just three.

But iff the grass looks greener and you can afford it ... do not resist. We all learn from our mistakes.

Goodbye my dear 5d mk III . You were my first "real" love. You were so quick and comfortable in my hands. I loved the way you felt. When we were together, we were "one in the same". You were the peanut butter to my jelly. Simply amazing and skilled in every aspect. Your resolution, dynamic range and AF were as real as it got. I even loved your previous model almost as much. You were my "King of the World."

I have decided its time to move on. We just don't see eye to eye anymore. I need more! You

Nice post.....my feeling is that anyone who can't get brilliant images with this gear won't get brilliant images with any gear.....great photographers know how to use their kit to max advantage. Hell....David Bailey still uses the same Rollie TLR he used in the 60s for fashion work.....

Wrong forum? I think you meant to post in the "Emotional Attachments to Inanimate Objects" forum, or perhaps in the "Hope Springs Eternal That Switching Brands Will Make Me a Better Photographer" forum...

The latter is so very true for guitars also...and it doesn't work . I can vouch from personal experience

But...

A) He isn't really using it in an original way in challenging situations.

B) He has lighting down with assistants to help set up.

C) His subjects have a vested interest in helping him to create arresting images.

D) He is established with fawning admirers and needn't 'push the envelope'.

His photographic life is vastly different from ours. Yes, the gear can, and should, be secondary. But Bailey's got it made with access to some of the most famous people, and the greatest faces, of our era.

Mind you the feel of a Tele is vastly different from an SG and switching guitars, if not brands, may be the best move in some cases.

Actually...he just does it under pretty basic circumstances......nice models obviously but the point is he didn't need to upgrade to the latest gear to get great images.....his large format prints from film are stunning......he has the gear he needs and he has 'the eye'.....eye over gear always wins in my opinion.

It's that, but as I wrote look at who he is shooting - who is playing up in front of his camera. How can you go wrong?!

Bill . . . no doubt nothing is going to beat Canon's 500, 600 & 1Dx. Nothing.

But it does come at a premium . . . $30,300 to be exact.

And invite is a verb, not a noun (the noun is invitation) and "for free" should be just "free" or, correctly "free of charge"
Anyway, at least the OP has some company now (if not friends) ;

It's just like rehoming a dog - if the original owner wants to rehome it probably they didn't really love it in the first place and it's better off with someone who will love and care for it!

It seems the OP's chief complaint is resolution. He mentions it over and over, even attributes lost sales to it. And yet the D800 was announced before the 5D3, so he could have had it all along. Somehow, Canon's resolution and DR doesn't stop world famous photographers from making very large prints for galleries. But what do they know?

I have thousands of D800 images shot for me by another photographer and they are nothing special and the color is worse than from Canon. Yes, they have a bit more resolution. That extra resolution means that one can print about 6

colors worse in Nikon ?

The Nikon cameras has higher color resolution (color depth) than the Canon, ie better conditions for color reproduction,
the rest is choice of color space, profiles and color handling.

The English language has certainly taken a mauling... The OP seems like a good guy and many a fellow has taken his tongue in cheek post far too seriously. I might consider a D810 too if Canon dont announce a viable alternative sooner than later. The 5D3 is an excellent camera but there is no doubt that sensor is showing signs of aging badly. You'd have to wrestle my 1DX and 500ii from my dead cold fingers though
