I spent an hour at Henry's camera store yesterday, trying out the Nikon Df and the new D810. I've been wanting to upgrade my D700 for some time, especially to mount MF lenses.... The Df just didn't do it for me as I found the grip awkward, as well as the placement of the strap mounts. The D810 on the other hand, felt great and the new shutter mechanism really is much quieter compared to my D700. I'm just not sure how much my photography would benefit from owning one, so still sitting on the fence. Perhaps I'll do an interim upgrade to a D800 or D800E now that heaps of used ones are hitting the market. Here's why I still love my D700...
