What there isn't even a D700 image thread? Can anyone start one?
And this one doesn't work... why?
Seems Will has given us the perfect opportunity to show off what this camera is capable of doing. My guess is that this thread will have a LONG life, even at the D700 is having a long life.
Will was one of many who listed a 105 f/2.5 manual focus lens in their signature line when those were included with each post. The thought crossed my mind that it might we worth checking out after I picked up a D700 following years shooting Canon. The rest is history. I now have an abundance of MF Nikkors but I STILL have the D700... a great camera. This is my friend's son Ansel... how about that?
I shot 2000-3000 frames this past week, with both a D700 and D800. For a 2008 era camera (I don't think I still run any computer from that time without at least having done some form of upgrade) it performed superbly. I had no second thoughts when using the D700 based on the lens that was mounted on it in the moment, and have no regrets when processing the D700 files either.
The D810 is intriguing, and I'd probably sell the D700 if I were to make that move. But since this thread is to give the D700 it's due, to anyone contemplating the D700, and wondering if it's a good camera, the answer is that it is a great camera!
