I've wanted a D700 for a while--I finally have a good set of FX glass so maybe next year!! The price of a D7000 was just too good to pass up (I used to have a D90).
I've traveled twice to Europe since buying my first D700 each time carrying a kit of manual focus lenses. The D700 loves MF lenses about as much as I do. Here is a shot on a rainy day in front of Suleymaniye Mosque taken with the 28 f/2 AI-s.
I also spent a few hours in the underground Basilica Cistern originally constructed by the Romans, which demanded ISO 6400 from the D700. It did the job without complaint...
These were art students who'd come as part of a class project.
Love this thread! Kudos to all for sharing their great shots. I love mine, and it reminds me every time I pick it up hat its not not the arrow but the archer. Maybe one day I'll grab a D800 when the next iteration comes to pass, but until then the I'll keep on keeping on.
PS: thanks to Will and so many others her at Fm for sharing how to get the most out of the old girl.
Hera couple of my favs. Might not not be technically perfect, but they resonate with me to this day because of the trip and our time in Myanmar.
Love that first photo Anthony. Wished I was in to photography when I was stationed in Germany for eight years 1992-2000. I was using a crappy point and shoot film camera and a Fujifilm MX-1200 "1.3 Megapixel" digital.
Shot these the night that Hurricane Sandy was hitting the east coast. I was driving west, and saw a thin orange line along the horizon. When I came to a stop at my destination, I looked out the window and saw this scene developing before my eyes. I never got out of the car to take these shots, just opened the window and used the door to support my jaw dropping while I shot. D700, and the 85mm f/1.8 H.C manual focus lens that went 'round the world.
