someone please school me. I have a summilux 50/1.4 asph which from perusing the above thread I gather is not a Mandler designed lens. Were I to take the same shot with both my summilux and the 50 summicron that is a Mandler design, same shutter, aperture, ISO, what would be the differences between the two images?
Even better if someone could answer the above question by posting side by side pics, that would be great.

The Summilux-M 50mm ASPH is a Peter Karbe design, 2004. The Summicron Version IV was a Walter Mandler design, 1979. The “Version V” has the same Mandler optical elements and aperture blades, with different coatings and a different exterior.
I cannot recall ever doing a side-by-side comparison shoot with my ‘Lux ASPH and ‘Cron lenses. If I had, I do not think that it would be right to post non-Mandler images in this thread. Perhaps your request deserves its own thread?
I have certainly seen such comparisons posted on-line, in the several years leading up to my decision to start with the Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, in early 2018. I added the Summicron soon afterward, largely because I thought its compactness would be handier in some circumstances, but, in actual practice, I almost always use the Summilux.

Strange thread answers.
If you go onto Leica wiki and find your EXACT lens, then near the bottom of the specs on the lens it lists the lens designer(s).
IMHO, only those with Mandlers name as the designer are Mandler lenses, period.
