i understand some r5 users are now putting their rv's up for sale and instead buying a refrigerated truck to store the camera in to be sure it is ready to use hopefully when needed

Purchased a very clean and sharp copy of the 300 f/2.8. After a few days shooting... it just isn't for me. I'm going to return it.
Focus speed-fantastic
Handles TC's very well.
Very sharp and the bokeh is great.
The weight is what is holding me back from keeping it...
I'll end up renting a big prime or big zoom when I plan on wildlife trips.
Hate to see it go...but... I don't see me using it nearly often enough to justify keeping it.
Just an update

Too bad there wasn't some way you could have figured out beforehand how much the lens weighed before you bought it. Could have saved the seller a lot of headache.

I knew how much it weighed...it just wasn't for me. The seller will be fine...
Went to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary last week, with the D4s and 300/2.8VR-G. Love that D4 sensor.
Spotted this alligator in such a great pose. The area had water about 2ft deep covered by those very small floating plants that you see in the third picture below. The leaves form what looks like solid ground but the are floating on the water. As the gator came out of the water the plants stayed with him, forming a colorful frosting. The big fellow laid there almost hidden on the log waiting for the sun to warm him up. He was so well camouflaged, we almost missed the spectacle.
We were there about 20 minutes waiting for the sun to catch his eyes. After all that time the gator moved for the very first time, lifting his head just enough that his eye caught the light in the first picture. He looked us for about 10 seconds, put his head down and went back to sleep.
