Warning for those looking at the Viltrox branded one. It looks identical to the one arize84 linked up top, with the Viltrox stamp on it. I received mine (http://www.ebay.com/itm/400683150045 $129.99) and it is marked as the EF-NEX II - it is supposedly the updated version of the NEX-EF adapter (for NEX-7 and previous) now with FF coverage. Unfortunately AF is not working as I get a "Invalid with this lens" error message when trying to change AF mode from default manual focus. I tried with two lens - EF 50/1.8 Mark I and Tokina 17/3.5 AT-X Pro, both are older models. Same error for both. Aperture control and EXIF data seem to be working with no problems. I have contacted the seller already so I update again as soon as I hear from them.
Hi systema, I read that most of these adapters don't work with the EF 50mm 1.8 I, I think it's because that lens don't have the distance scale in the lens and that may be the reason, but glad you can MF with them.
I read that other brand other lens brands are not as successful as they must reverse engineer the Canon commutations and I think these adapters only focus with Canon only, but I know with the Metabones does work with my Sigma 35 mm 1.4 ART and my Nikon G to Canon adapter which I was quite surprised and happy.
Did a very quick check this morning when I stepped outside before driving to work, then again just before sunset.
I can confirm that my Conurused Contax N 24-85 has operating AF via the Metabones Mk III adapter and aperture selection is working as expected via the rear control wheel in A mode. EXIF is being transferred too.
In bright light conditions, AF was acceptable, if never going to be fast enough for fast moving subjects, but that's not why I bought my A7R.
I've just received the King adapter as well. The build quality seems really solid with the exception of the lens release slider which wobbles around a fair bit. The interior is nicely coated with anti-reflective material and the exterior & interior finish looks good.
The fit on the Canon side is quite tight. I tried first with the 40mm as a sort of sacrificial lens and started worrying it wasn't going to go, but ended up cranking it and all was well. It also turned out to be the tightest fit of all my EF-mount lenses.
With Canon lenses, the AF requires monk-like patience - it hunts back and forth for several seconds before acquiring (only tested in mediocre light so far so will revise if it is significantly better in good light).
The only oddity I've noticed so far is that the focal length seems to be getting transmitted to the camera (as evidenced by it choosing a minimum speed of 1/160th for the ZE 100/2 in Auto ISO mode) but is not making it into the EXIF (which reports the lens as a "DT 0mm F0.0 SAM"). Has anyone figured out a way to have the EXIF record the focal length?
Hello akuba, glad you got one that is working with your lenses, but please check the gold contacts on the back of your canon 40mm and others with a 8x or 10x lupe to see if there are marks and or groves in the black plastic part of the gold contact part and I hope being tight did not cause any damage like I got.
I also noticed on the King on the row of gold pins and the pin all the way to the right most pin has a sleeve that the pins push inside and on my that first pin was egg shaped because it was very tight to rotate the lenses it caused the gold sleeve to bend and looks egg shaped.
I hope no damage has occurred.
Please let us know when you get a chance if you see what I am talking about.
Hi Christopher, I saw your post about the contact damage prior to my adapter arriving so was quite careful putting the first lens on. I stopped at the first sign of resistance and then turned it a bit further with each attempt and backed it out to check the contacts. In then end all seems well for now.
I did have a look at the contacts and the marking does not seem to have increased compared to lenses I have only ever mounted on Canon cameras. All my lenses have some marking from sliding across the pins on my various cameras. This adapter is probably going to live on the ZE 100/2 (until a native FE option for a short tele comes along) so that reduces overall risk as well.
The contact pins on the King adapter do seem almost twice the height of those on Canon cameras (when considering the height above the end of the sleeve) so there is potential for more leverage to be applied to the pin from the side which may amplify any quality control issues. I guess you didn't happen to note if there was already any egg shape to that sleeve prior to mounting the first time? It seems like it could have either started out slightly off leading to the pin binding against the side instead of sliding down, or it could have been deformed when its pin caught on the plastic.
Really sorry to see that happen to your lenses and I hope it gets sorted out by the seller as communicated.
For what its worth....the Ebay seller of my King adapter replied like this after I mentioned that my Zeiss ZE lenses weren't connecting electrically ie no exif/aperture control:

Update on the Viltrox Adapter (NEX-EF II). So I returned to my apartment and tried all my other lens:
Canon 17-40/4L
Canon 40/2.8 pancake
Canon 50/1.2L
Sigma 70/2.8 macro
Happy to say AF works all of them, albeit a bit slower than on the 1D body The mechanism/programming for AF hunt seems to go from near to far-end of the spectrum sweep, then a slow jig-jag to the focus point. One nitpick issue I seem to have is getting focus peaking to show up when Lens switch is set to AF mode, as the peaking only appears when I togged it to MF. Whereas I have the Zeiss 55/1.8 setup where peaking is always active and I can switch between AF/MF effortlessly. Maybe someone can figure this out?
Overall, I'm happy to finally get my EF lens and be able to do some T/S work with the A7. Too bad the 50/1.8 mk1 and tokina 17/3.5 do not AF on this adapter but I can live with it for now. Hell, it's giving me another reason to sell the ol' Tokina...
Long time lurker and this is my first post. I just received got a COMMLITE NEX-EF AF adapter and wanted to offer a quick review for people who are considering purchasing the same.
First of all, some background on my shooting background and equipment. I am not a professional. Just an frugal enthusiast. I have been shooting the last 20 or so years and have been working with a wide range of manual focused vantage optics even before getting my A7. I have a number of EF/EF-S optics.
Without further delay, here is the first opinion:
Purchasing, logistics: Bought from eBay from CHINA. There is an identical version on Amazon for about $95. From ebay is $10 cheaper at $85. This is by far the cheapest of the AF EF-NEX adapaters you can buy. It took a little over 2 weeks for the item to arrive from China. The the seller was reasonable and answered my questions by email.
Build quality:
Build is solid. Not overwhelmingly so but very reasonable. It is mostly constructed out of metal with some plastic inserts for baffle. One issue noted by another reviewer on Amazon is that it uses a highly reflective plastic for inner components which could cause unwanted reflection. I plan to flock it with Edmund flocking paper. The tripod mount is held onto the barrel with a single thumb screw. I had no issue disengaging it from the barrel.

Compatibility:
The list on the website has an extensive list of Cannon lens it works with. I only tested have a few Canon lenses with mixed results. Out of the three Canon lense tested, EF 50/1.4, EF 24-85 and EF-S 55-250 worked perfectly. Camera locked up when I tried an really old EF 28/2.8 lense on AF. Interestingly, if you leave the lens on MF, it works okay with aperture control with manual focus. It has a dismal record for third party lenses. I tried a Tamron 90 macro, a Tamron 35-105/2.8, and a Tamron 17-50, all of them doesn't autofocus, one does manual focus and the macro lens goes crazy changes aperture when focus is changed.
Grade: B+ (compare to metabone)
AF:
AF works. It is not going to break any records. Doesn't appear to be slower than Metabones (those I see from youtube videos). Works with none USM lenses such as EF 50/1.4. Certainly not good enough to track moving subjects.

EXIF, Aperture control:
No issues for lenses that works. This focal length information are passed into the final JPG but not lens type (ie. code). Interestingly, this adapter is not stop metered and aperture doesn't close until the shutter button has been pressed. I have seen other versions of adapters where aperture closes down immediately when changed like FE lense. However, both EVF and screen in the back reflects the change to light gathering except DOF. In this regard it functions exactly like Canon's phase detect AF.
Grade: A-
Other intrigues:
Most of the focus modes from SONY works. Including eye-focus. Again, it won't win any awards for speed, but I deem them adequate for none critical work. Focus confirmation is indicated with green squares and beep, just like the SONY FE lense.
Price: A+

I think the King adapter managed to kill my Zeiss 50mm ZE. I tried several times to use it on the a7r with the adapter and never got aperture control. So now putting it back on my 5d2, its dead. Gives an error 01
Mine from Lengril on eBay just arrived today. Here is my experience from about 15-20 test shots around the house.
I tried it with my Canon 28-70 L f/2.8 and Sigma 15mm FE and it all worked fine - including AF. I tried it on my Zeiss 21mm FE and it would only go down to f/3.2 (not 2.8). Also on the EXIF my Zeiss 21 showed as 31mm and my 15mm FE showed as 22mm and my 28-70 showed as 105mm. But then I found out it was shooting crop mode (not sure how that happened) and 70mm x 1.5 = 105. So - when I took the crop setting from auto to off I shot a few more 21mm shots and it was recorded as 21mm.
Besides that - its a (good) snug fit. Nice flat black interior with felt in the box area. Contacts and tripod foot all seem fine as well.
Mike reid, did you use a 8 or 10 x lupe to check the gold contacts? On my the black plastic that holds them in place caused the Canon pics not to make contact and gave me error 01 and locked the body when firing the shutter.
I hope the adapter did not damage the electronics of your ZE lense, if it was working before the adapter but not after then I would email the seller and tell them and want them to pay to repair your ZE lense.
I don't know them but if you know that that adapter caused this damage then I would email them and I would expect that they will pay for the damage since these adapter use the Sony's power to power the Canon mount lens and maybe it had a power surge or something not like what happened to me.
Hello all, well I just got the Canon service cost to replace the gold contact part, the 16-35 was $194.26 and the 24-70 2.8 II L $284.26 and last was the 70-300 f4 -5.6 $284.26 for a grand total of $762.78 WOW and also Canon charges $14.00 each lens to return for 2 Day, I wanted them to be shipped as just 1 box and they can't do that!
And don't show what the part cost just a cost to repair and they add tax as I am in a state that has a Canon office.
So I sent the repair cost to the seller and will see...
