Although I shoot with the 7D, I don't shoot a lot of BIF. I like the lens for what it does and the images it gives me pleases me. Tat's all that counts in the end when you don't make a living at it.. I know there's better photographers here but here's a few that I've gotten with the lens .
lens quit focusing after about an hour on 50dwith 2 newly recharged batteries in the grip
put on my 70-200 canon which was out with me at the same time and no problems
suspect the grease is wrong viscosity or tolerances too close
wanted the lens for eagle trips in the cold - last trip to leclaire the temp on last day started at 115 with -38 windchill - canon lenes worked just fine

I posted the service manager's contact information earlier. You might drop him a line. I would be courious if you have AIServo problems as I did.
From Tamron news letter --
Tamron reps will be showing / demoing lenses . If in your area- show them . The closest to me is looking glass - Berkerly Calif - smaller shop , but I don't have lens yet - maybe by then -

Saw that yesterday. They are in Fresno of all places. Might go and bug them about the focus problems with this lens
They will be in Berkley Mat 22 - a Thursday - no times posted . The store is small and parking is hard to find .
If the lens shows up and I have problems , I will go [ call ahead for times . ]

Strange it seems they are hitting a lot of small dealers. Horn in Fresno is not big. Yes there will be parking issues there. I have to agree with a comment I read on Facebook. Too bad they are not going to Yosemite. (or other good photo op places.) Lets face it most camera stores and parking lots are not great places to take photos. I bet if it was in Yosemite the Fresno dealer would run up there.
I really like the Canon in the Park series when they had them. Not sure why they quit. it was a great chance to try out gear.
Canon in the Park series - my 1st use of 1022 - I bought that lens .
Yosemite is 3 hours away , but I would go just to talk to Canon people .
Canon used to be at trade shows [ computer and publishing ] , but the last couple I went to , they did not show up .

Thanks Denis. Very interesting first post. Welcome! As tony said, a sequential burst of AI Servo images from the Tammy/1d3 combination would be a great 2nd post. Cheers!
Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately I don't have the required number of posts to show any sequential shots here and forgive my feelings whatever I post will be knocked for some reason.
However, the more I use this lens, the more I love it. The following are from a couple of sequential shots, The first ones are shot at 600mm, f8 which is still a very shallow dof on this lens. The second set were shot at 150mm.
Go to: http://www.denisg.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=44http:// and look for shots 1039, 44, 48 and 50. All 11 shots were sharp to me.
Also look at shots 1058, 63 and 68 for the 150 set, again all were acceptably sharp to me bearing in mind how close they were, how big the subjects are and how close I was at the time.
