p.1 #1 · Incredible light at Tipsoo Lake, Mount Rainier.
This is a re-edit of a shot from my summer trip to Mount Rainier. I was all excited coming all the way from Australia to shoot the wildflowers, but unfortunately, I arrived at Paradise to a bunch of brown stems of what once were beautiful pinks, purples and yellows.
I wasn't having much luck with the weather either.. clear blue skies or clouds cloaking the mountain from view. I decided to try something different and headed over to the East side of the park to try my luck at Upper Tipsoo. This was the result. One night of glorious skies in my 10 day trip there, but I think this was worth it.
I have been working on my editing lately, as I feel it was still holding me back somewhat. Here's the result after complete re-edit following a workshop on CS6 from Alex Noriega.

Beautiful shot. I was there this summer and got lots of wildflower shots, but didn't see a sky like this one. It all evens out if you have enough time.

Oh! I went out this afternoon hoping for this kind of sunset, but no cigar for me!
Your capture for this wonderful sunset is just amazing. Just perfect, Matthew!

Hey Matthew,
Great work on this. I don't know about your original, but this rendition looks super good. So good job with sticking with working on the processing more. It's often shots like these that will help us to learn new techniques in processing as we work to recreate what we saw.

Thanks a lot Jim. Definitely a lot of work went into this, so always good practice. You'll see the original if you click my featured thread win.

Beautiful image. Very finely done. Nice treatment of the composition. I think the vignetting to darker edges really sets off the luminous off-centered center. Thanks for the tip to Alex Noriega. I didn't know his work before--a combination of fantastic, subtleties, and power from controlled, carefully applied emphasis and restraint, which also shows in your image.

(Is the "Diamond in the Rough" the original?)

Thanks! He's a very talented dude, learnt a lot from him. Yes Diamond in the Rough is the original edit.
