I look forward to the "Best Of" threads each year! Some incredible talent and images in this gallery for sure. Not much time to get out and shoot this year. I humbly offer up three of the better shots from this year.

Oh man, those bats are WAAAAAY COOOOL! Way to go, Norm!
Thanks a lot! It's a little ironic, I pay to get good lenses and then I shoot through a window pane to get these images. The bats were flying around the feeder that was only 2 feet from the front of my lense.

This baby puku listened to Mom and was lying low and quietly. Since babies live on milk, they don’t have to move about to feed. It is said that they have almost no odor. So they are not seen, not heard, nor smelled by predators. Smart baby!
This kudu was feeding above me on a hill. He raised his head further as he looked down his nose at me. The foreshortening of a 500mm lens makes the spiral of his horns look even more pronounced.
This leopard was cooperative enough to allow me to exactly frame him, and use all 22MP of 5D3 with no cropping. The safari bracing system allowed me to keep my 500 exactly framed on him for many minutes, as I waited for the right insouciant expression and eye position.

Fabulous set Shailendra, I wasn't expecting a gull but you posted a real beauty!!! The low angle on the iguana makes him look ready to attack!!
What an excellent set Don!! The leopard is a top notch shot but I'm going to give the nod to the Puku
Leo your opener is pure magic, it makes me wish I was there I hate to say it but it looks like you bored the owl Wish that was my shot!!!

2013 has been a rewarding year of wildlife photography, with the bread-and-butter work in and around Philadelphia punctuated by trips to Florida, Ontario, California, Holland, and Germany. Choosing three images wasn't easy, but here are my modest contributions to this awesome thread.
1. The year started off with a bang when I chanced upon Dennis Goodman as the sun was rising at Tigertail Beach on New Year's Day. Dennis kindly showed me the way across town to the Burrowing Owls of Marco Island.
2. I was fortunate enough to be the first person to document, in 2010, the return of American Mink to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Thank you, Clean Water Act! Notwithstanding the combined efforts of several breedings pairs of Great Horned Owls, mink are now seen regularly in these South Philadelphia wetlands. This one was happy to sit for a portrait at the end of May.
3. Red fox are among my favorite mammals. In preparing for a trip to Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park in June, I had come across Justin Hoffman's images of a vixen and her kits at their den along the Arowhon Road, taken in May. We were thrilled to find mom and her surviving male kit when we got there a month after Justin's visit!
