2013 has been a rewarding year of wildlife photography, with the bread-and-butter work in and around Philadelphia punctuated by trips to Florida, Ontario, California, Holland, and Germany. Choosing three images wasn't easy, but here are my modest contributions to this awesome thread.
1. The year started off with a bang when I chanced upon Dennis Goodman as the sun was rising at Tigertail Beach on New Year's Day. Dennis kindly showed me the way across town to the Burrowing Owls of Marco Island.
2. I was fortunate enough to be the first person to document, in 2010, the return of American Mink to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Thank you, Clean Water Act! Notwithstanding the combined efforts of several breedings pairs of Great Horned Owls, mink are now seen regularly in these South Philadelphia wetlands. This one was happy to sit for a portrait at the end of May.
3. Red fox are among my favorite mammals. In preparing for a trip to Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park in June, I had come across Justin Hoffman's images of a vixen and her kits at their den along the Arowhon Road, taken in May. We were thrilled to find mom and her surviving male kit when we got there a month after Justin's visit!

Very nice set Bill and a refreshingly different variety of creatures. I especially like the comp of the Glossy Snake, it brings us right into its world.
Really nice set to mark the occasion James, you jumped right in and landed squarely on both feet, a fine selection of images
Who's this Kruk guy What took you so long Kirk! I have been dying to see what you would come up knowing it would be a treat! And it is A subtlety fantastic set of shots, the kind that one just enjoys taking their time to absorb. Great work my friend!
Hey Bruce, great to see you stopping by. You offer up a fantastic selection and a first at that I like them all but the BB takes it for me, well done
Excellent set Christian, from the intense stare of the BO to the cute kit. Wonderful stuff indeed.

Well, this ol' farm boy can't run and gun with this crowd, but here is what I like that I did................keep the laughter to a minimum.
Mike
Mike, you could have just taken that first one and no other shot all year and had a good year of photography!
