Beautiful shots all - some really spectacular images in there. I have had very few opportunities to get out and shoot, but did not end the year empty handed

Thanks Karl
I need to spend more time hanging out in N&W like I used to - just wish I had more to contribute image wise.
Part of my New Year's resolution - more pictures, and not being a stranger
Same to you and yours
Gero

Holy mackerel Trey that Bobcat is cut up but doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all, very alert looking and clean in the eyes...............a survivor!
Great set of images as Tim said, #1 is super, #3 I love and I must find one this year, super shot and exposure on the owl, and that last image is a winner! Wow what a beautiful group of horses and such a great feel to this image!!

Happy New Year, FMers! Thanks for hosting 2013's best of, Tim. WOW, some AMAZING images here. Wonderful and humbling to view the terrific work presented in this thread. Congrats to all, and looking forward to more in 2014!
Here are my favorite captures of 2013.
First two were from a trip to Belize I took with my 12 year old son. These annual wildlife expeditions are always a highlight for me, and this year was no exception.
#1 - Red Capped Manakin, Gallon Jug - Belize
This was the only RC Manakin I saw on the trip, and only had a few seconds to expose and capture this lovely subject, which was fairly deep in foliage. I was pleased to have anything to keep.
#2 - Ornate Hawk Eagle, Gallon Jug - Belize
This was among the top three target birds we were hoping to see in Belize, and what a thrill to find it! I was also relieved to have exposed this subject in a highly back-lit environment. When I started to PP and saw it was a usable image, I thought, "damn, I may actually be learning how to take a photograph."
#3 - First Bald Eagle in flight, San Juan Island, WA
After 7+ years of wildlife shooting, this is the first BE in flight capture for me. What a thrill and a highlight from a great trip to San Juan Island.

I remember walking through an exhibition some years back and walking away feeling dumbfounded and in awe of what I'd just seen. Here today, amongst ALL of the posters in this thread.. I'm a so humbled and, in the same breath, grateful. The talent amassed in this mixed group of people from across the world is nothing short of amazing.
So not only do we all have these breathtaking images to enjoy and wonder at. We have this pool of talent to draw upon by way of advice, and years of collective imagery to hopefully, get better at what we do.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone in the wildlife & nature section for the efforts and talents you've all displayed here. I am truly humbled to have you all to speak to.
