Re: Best of 2013 Nature & Wildlife:: Round 3 and final round is OPEN::
Happy New Year, FMers! Thanks for hosting 2013\'s best of, Tim. WOW, some AMAZING images here. Wonderful and humbling to view the terrific work presented in this thread. Congrats to all, and looking forward to more in 2014!
Here are my favorite captures of 2013.
First two were from a trip to Belize I took with my 12 year old son. These annual wildlife expeditions are always a highlight for me, and this year was no exception.
#1 - Red Capped Manakin, Gallon Jug - Belize
This was the only RC Manakin I saw on the trip, and only had a few seconds to expose and capture this lovely subject, which was fairly deep in foliage. I was pleased to have anything to keep.
#2 - Ornate Hawk Eagle, Gallon Jug - Belize
This was among the top three target birds we were hoping to see in Belize, and what a thrill to find it! I also like this image as I was able to adjust the exposure to capture this subject in a highly back-lit environment. When I started to PP and saw it was a usable image, I thought, \"damn, I may actually be learning how to take a photograph.\"
#3 - First Bald Eagle in flight, San Juan Island, WA
After 7+ years of wildlife shooting, this is the first BE in flight capture for me. What a thrill and a highlight from a great trip to San Juan Island.
