2. My very last image of the male eagle from the nest I've followed since 2008. I learned a lot about photography, wildlife habits and people by following this eagles nest and it's something I will never forget.

I will run three more up the flagpole for the 2nd round. All my knowledge is gleaned from you folks, I just point and shoot, and you folks save me with processing techniques.........Mike

Beautiful work Duane! The moment you captured in the first is stunning, that's a rare moment indeed. Not only did you capture it but you captured it expertly
Real nice work Victor, 3 marvelous shots to add to the collection!
That's all there is to it Mike, just point and shoot! 3 completely different shots and all three of them are superb. I love the light on the BE

Compared to the images from the great photographers here Tim, that's all I can do is point and shoot. You folks here are the best around! Thank you all for your help in improving my lousy processing by twenty fold.!!!
Happy Holidays to all and travel safe and hug someone dear.........
and mabidally, I'll stick to little birdies and dragon flies, you play with some mean subjects!

Ok I'll play. Never posted any of these on FM. This is a few of my favorites.
#1. This is the shot that started it all. My addiction to photography, birds of prey.
This photo was taken on March 14, 2010 right across the street from my home.
With a Nikon Coolpix P90 point and shoot camera.
#2. This photo was taken on Aug. 26, 2011 in Katmai National Park Alaska.
While standing in a small boat handheld with a Canon 7d and a 400mm prime lens.
#3. This photo was taken on Aug. 27, 2011 in Katmai National Park Alaska.
Canon 7d and a 400mm prime lens.
While standing in the middle of a river in chest waiters.
Cheap unstable tripod in the water, with the bear charging straight at me, going for a fish.
Mother bear about 10 yards behind and to the right watching closely.

The 2nd round isn't much easier than the first! No it isn't Matthew! Then again with the three excellent shots you posted who knows what gems lurk on your hd!! The Orcas are such an iconic image, I love that shot
You went for some different styles here Tony I really like that. The RWBB nest is quite unique as these nests are usually buried so deeply we can never get a shot of them, congrats on that one. The wider look of the last make for excellent presentations. Well done!!
Wow Brian, 3 super sharp and crystal clear shots, these are marvelous. As much as I like the tight shot of the moose the owl may get the nod from me. Top shelf work Brian
Great to see you got your images up Dave!!! What a wonderful pictorial story all the way from your beginnings and culminating in the excellent bear shot. Super set
Excellent set Keith you did this area proud The owl against that background is a stunner and I know how difficult they can be at that location. Excellent set all around, it makes me want to head up north, cmon nice weather!!!!

Tim… thanks again for this post, as it has been a pleasure to view the collective works for fellow fm'ers.
I've been gone doing some landscape work in frigid temps (North Shore Lake Superior, MN) and upon my return, I was so happy to see that this thread is still alive and kicking.
It's always a challenge to pick the bests from a year's efforts… here are three that I like, though not sure they are "bests in wildlife."
#1 Green Violet-ear Hummingbird from Savegre River area in Costa Rica
#2 Sea Otter from the Elkhorn Slough (still working on my files with otters as I shot thousands over Thanksgiving)
#3 Mantled Howler Monkey, La Selva Area. These are among the hardest animals to shoot as they are always high in the trees and back by harsh light. I chose a warm-toned black and white to emphasize its form and facial characteristics.

This thread is incredible and I've been too embarrassed with my own efforts to post. Slightly breaking the rules because one is from 2012 but something happened to it in 2013 that makes me proud of it!
Niall
European Wigeon
Blue Tit
Little Egret - this year somebody (I don't know who) paid money for this - a first for me for a bird photo!!
