On the topic of focusing past infinity I should have thought that all users of alternative MF lens would focus critically rather than just bang them on to hard stop infinity. I think it's asking too much of an adapter to be universal across a lens range in this manner and it is surely much better to allow focusing beyond infinity than to be short of it.
There is a simple and elegant solution. Set the lens to achieve optical infinity, using live view. Now, mark the barrel where the infinity sign is. Now you can use that mark with the scale, at any distance. Repeat with every lens you have.

On my OM21/3.5 infinity is at the hard stop, then just a titch back (easy to get a feel for). Since I use it for night photography, that's just the simplest thing I've found. I don't trust myself not to screw up a taped lens at night, pretty sure I could find a way to bollocks that up in the dark.
BTW, love all the samples on this thread. Thanks to everyone.

With the Oly 50/1.4 and 24/2.8 H. Zuiko. The vignetting is mine (PP).

I have to say, the promise of the compact full frame kit has been fulfilled. The A7r, the 50 and 24 (with adapter) all fit easily in a small Billingham Pola.

rji2goleez Those shots are great Bob, really shows what a 21/3.5 can look like on an A7r. Thanks for posting.
Atlasman2, The 100/2 is one of my favourite lenses Joseph, I think you might have a little veiling flare from the left window though, as I haven't noticed that effect with mine at F2.
Yes, I've noticed and suspect the adapter, which I've ordered another.

Does anyone have the 135/2.8? I ordered one from KEH along with the 24mm, I figured for $105 it was worth a shot for a focal length I love on FF. What is the point in having an adapter for only one lens anyway!?

And what is a decent lineup in Oly-land ? I started with a 24/2.8 but since right now I have lenses with different adapters and I wanted to have a light and small package I was searching for something that could be on par with the 90G or the C/Y 85/2.8. How is the 100/2.8 compared to the Zeiss ?

Oly's and Zeiss are almost polar opposites with regard to their approach to drawing style.
While that may not be technically accurate, it is meant that you may not want to judge one by the other, but rather each for it's own merit of drawing style. That being said what attributes of the 90G or the C/Y 85/2.8 drawing style is it that you are most interested in or desiring to find in the Oly's?

Olympus ZUIKO 24mm f2.8 MC at f8
The lens works extremely well with the A7R, is very light, super sharp in the corners once stopped down to f5.6 and only needs Chromatic Aberration correction in Lightroom. If anyone has a lens profile in Lightroom for it please PM to remove the mild distortion.

I wand a decently sharp lens without going to Leica M for small size, and the 90G seemed to deliver just that. I like the Zeiss for the pretty easy to obtain snap in the pictures. I have gone from a Zeiss line up to a Leica R one and back to Zeiss again, but now I started by choosing the wide angle and I would like to try a Zuiko combination. Clearly, I might end up with the Zeiss again, and getting used with ZM on the 5N will not help, but still, I am interested because I did not have Zuiko lenses before.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by this statement? Are you talking about snap (micro-contrast) vs pictorial?
I'm not bothered about Zeiss snap in the digital age - I can fix micro-contrast issues in Lightroom. I love Zeiss lenses but they are mainly either prone to colour shift etc (ZM Biogons) or just too large and heavy (ZE) on the a7. C/Y Zeiss sound manageable though but I haven't had the pleasure of using them. As for the Gs, they were brillant on the Contax G1/G2 but they are AF lenses and even on the G bodies MF wa convoluted and difficult and I can't imagine this will be any easier when adapted for E-mount.
The beauty of Oly OMs is their small size and, with the good ones like the 21s and 28/2, their high resolution. Perfect wide angles for the a7 methinks even if the aperture rings do rotate the wrong way.

Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm F3,5 SL II might fill that brief very well, (though not a Zuiko.).

Well, part of the problem is I would like to have less adapters on my primary kit. If I get a macro lens, then it can be of any mount, since I will not carry it around that often, but having 3 different lenses with 3 different mounts as it is right now is far from great, esp. since I try to keep weight down in order to take that combination with me and not leave it home. I can do with two lenses so 24/28 and 85/100 is ok by me, but sharp at 5.6, decent in the center at 2.8 and of possible not that CA prone would be nice.

Of course cost should follow size . I am not talking Leica R28 II or 90AA territory, and the 90/2 Zuiko is going in that direction from what I have seen in the bay, at least around here.
