"Edit to say just ignore the forum police. These threads have their place and they quickly fall to the bottom after they are exhausted and everyone will be happy."
Quite! The problem on this otherwise excellent forum is that the search engine is not sophisticated enough to use for specific lenses. So what's wrong with a thread dedicated to Oly on the a7? And why not another for CV? And another for Leica R. How about Minolta MD? What's the problem if it makes life easier? If the purists don't like it they don't have to look. Bring it on.

Yeah, searching is really the issue. The problem is that those 100+ page threads are just too long to read through in their entirety. I understand that it's frustrating when there are so many A7-specific threads, but it's a temporary situation.

I see Olympus had a few 50ish 1.2 OM lenses. Which one was better? 50/1.2 or 55/1.2? I see the background blur is a little nervous in Makten's image of the bicycle at night.

I have had both, and I have read the 50/1.2 is better. Honestly, though, I liked my 55/1.2 quite well and find my 50/1.2 is great, too. So maybe it comes down to copy variation.

So instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd be quaint and ask here - what hood do y'all use on your OM21's? I apologize to RustyBug for being a bit tangential to topic.
I think the metal hoods are dead sexy on the OM lenses. The one I have unfortunately vignettes on FF. Works fine for NEX 5N, though.

I use a 49-77mm step up ring as a hood. I just go that big because I have 77mm polarizer. I also have square hood that at some point I will grind the corners down on so it doesn't vignette. Also I have the multi-coated version so flare isn't nearly as bad.
I had the metal hood when I had the 24mm and your assessment is correct, my favorite hood ever.

I've never used a hood on my MC 21/3.5, it can handle direct sun with ease.
I'll have my a7r on Saturday, and I can try and fill some requests depending on weather conditions.
Out of curiosity I compared the size of the OM 21/3.5 and my M Elmarit 24 Asph, each on their proper NEX adapter, the OM is about 2mm longer, 5mm larger in diameter.

There seams to be much more interest in the 21/3.5 than the 24/2.8. Is this mainly due to the focal length or is there a marginal difference in performance to be aware of?

The OM's surely seem to have a certain otherworldly feel in their rendering. Things beyond the focal plane appear to drift into a sort of dreamland, and there's some wild stuff going on in the highlights. Never really noticed before this thread. Very interesting.

I think the 24/2.8 actually performs a bit better than the 21/3.5, but perhaps more people just like the extra wideness of the 21mm.
