That new FE28 looks quite good Phillip. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
A few months ago I won the Zeissimages contest. My prize was a Zeiss 85/1.4 ZF.2, a lens that's not very popular here but I love it. Today I made some test shots with it on my A7S and it's an amazing combo. I also like that the lens balances well on the A7 cameras.
Here's one of those test shots, shot at f1.4:
a series illustrating that the Fe 2/28 has great bokeh at shorter distances and that it deteriorates a bit at longer distances
Thanks for the samples and images.
I tried it at a Sony store here too and have to say that it removed any doubts I had about it being too big (based on web images of the lens) and performance.
Other than the lens distortion, I was impressed and liked it.
The bokeh is decent for a 28mm imho.
I liked the wide attachment too, which seemed to be rather good at f8.
Only thing left for me to think over is the total cost of the 28+WA attachment which in the end is no small amount, though to be fair I'm getting 2 lenses.
Earlier this morning I was in Milwaukee, WI, my old stomping grounds. I had enough time to catch sunrise on the shores of Lake Michigan. I miss that big lake . . . it's where photography first became exciting for me.
Wow! i somehow dropped back 10 pages, and have been catching up this morning, handing out "likes" like candy on Halloween!
The usual suspects: Wilhelm, Philip Reeve, Jack, Charles, René, Derek, Ronny, Michiel, Werner, Helena, plus Vaughn, and so many others; my hat off to you all!
On my end, just flowers, with the amazing Otus 55. Simply the best lens I have ever had, and easy to use, too.
