I went outside to get the newspaper and this was next to the front porch. Clearly, I missed some serious drama! A7r with FE 55/1.8. Processed in LR5.3.

After blocking the chrome (or whatever it is, but shiny) ring from the adapter with Sugru Nikon PC-Nikkor 28mm 1:3.5 started finally working with A7. Vignetting with maximum shift is much smaller than with 5DmkII.

There was a discussion about the bokeh of the CV35/1.2 II. Sometimes it gets busy but here are two examples when I find it pleasing - just as in Taylor Shermans Barracuda images. Overall it is a superb lens in a very attractive format - though bigger than e.g. its [slower] ZM counterparts. For anyone thinking about buying it I recommend a browse of the flickr group here.

Nothing special here but a lesson in adapters for Sony-Minolta full frame lenses. This is the story. I started to mount my LA-EA1 Nex adapter to the A7r and I suddenly remembered that Sony just introduced two new adapters specifically for the AR full frame cameras. Looking into the adapter I immediately understood the issue. Rather than looking like a metal tube like every other adapter, the Sony adapters are filled with an inner rectangular extrusion or light baffle that matches the sensor format be it APS-C or full frame. Suddenly I was a couple of hundred dollars from being able to use my full frame Alpha lenses on the A7r. I then remembered I had a ten or fifteen dollar cheap M/A-Nex adapter which was of the hollow tube variety and it worked just fine as you can see.

Shots from yesterday. A7r and 24 Lux, first three shots. The last is with the FE 55. In spite of many discussions as to the rendering, this lens is a gem. It is AF, place the focus square on the face and the focus is accurate 95% of the time. The FE 55/A7r combo is light and ergonomic, lighter than my M240 and 50 Lux/50 Nocti f/1.0. Best, is that my fiancee loves to use this camera, even more so than the RX1r.
Also I am starting to appreciate the 24 Lux on the A7r as it works well without any issues!

I'll trade you Wilhem. We have hardly broken 0 degrees F (-18C) for the last several days and Monday, the predicted high temperature will about minus 15 F (-26C). Whatever snow we have is not going anywhere!!!

Charles, I couldn't agree more. I really enjoy, well, love the 24 Lux on the A7r. Combined that with the FE 55 and you got a really great travel combo . Happy New Year!
