This image is not meant to compete with excellent macro images Ronny Olsson has been posting here but more to show that how impressed I am with the close range capability of the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art. I didn't mean to take close up shots of a butterfly with this lens, the only lens I had on a leisure stroll in the neighborhood, enjoying spring like temperature here but the opportunity came up. Not quite taken at wide open but at f/2.0 still the result is quite impressive, at least to me, considering the lens used is a 35mm regular lens. Yes, I got really close but the camera/lens didn't seem to bother the butterfly that much.
I know it has been said, but I will say it again. Just incredible work on these pages and a great community to be a part of! A couple from the fire station yesterday. Both with the A7 and 35mm 2.8
I'm currently traveling for work in France and took to the weekend to do some site seeing in the Brittany area. I also had an amazing day yesterday meeting Philippe (Philber) and touring around the cities of St. Malo and Cancale. We may start a separate thread for some of those images.k
While I don't always trust images processed on my laptop for color accuracy, here's one from Mont St. Michel during blue hour. Such a simple image but there were all kinds of challenges for this one. I really wanted to use my Loxia 35. However, the be at the right distance, I would included a bulldozer in the image. Then there was the wind which did not play well with my travel tridpod. I needed to brace the tripod against the railing and hold it there with my hands while pulling downward on the camera strap to try to keep things steady. I'm glad took several images . . . most of them showing some blur but this one seems OK.
