I didn't own the FE16-35 back then. I used the Zeiss 15/2.8 and 21/2.8 distagons with metabone adapter when I visited. It was other wordly and I made some wonderful images from there. Here's a portfolio on my website: http://www.rjiphotography.com/icecaves
Zeiss (C/Y mount) 80-200mm f/4. It's a very good lens, especially for a zoom it's age. I like to think of it as my poor-man's alternative to the Sony G 70-200mm f/4.

Any news if they will open again this year?
Awesome, I'll take a look. No clue if they'll open again, but I'm guessing it'll be a no go this year. I was hoping they'd open again, given the fact that the water temp in the lake has remained low due the severe cold of last winter, but other than some ephemeral surface ice the lake is all open water. It's getting pretty close to when they opened last winter (1/18/14), which was a much colder year.
