A few today with Takumar 200 f4 @ f8
Was coming home from work near WPAFB and saw this just landing but then it went right back up and i knew it would come back around so i got the best postion i could and fired away as it came back. This is not cropped at all... Its my understanding that this is a fully functional duplicate of Air Force 1 that is stored here at WPAFB, they fly it regularly for practice i guess

Bob,
I am surprised at the quality of the starburst by the Loxia when only stopped down to f2.8
I am too Jim. I'm seeing a lot of wonderful qualities in this lens. Lots of Zeiss goodness. More to learn and explore. Now if the temperature would just cooperate a little so I could spend more time outside!

It's definitely an interesting comparison that I've been following, although the Sigma 35/1.4 is a superb lens, it's huge on the A7 !
I've loved all the shots from the Biogon and from the Loxia so far. There is definitely that Zeiss magic dust in the Biogon, beautiful colours and very sharp. The Loxia looks to be long the same lines but need to see more. I checked the prices out here and was surprised the Loxia was around US$1,100 to the Biogon's US$800, so the question is do I need new and AF ? That said the Sigma costs less than the Biogon and the flare is much better controlled ! Decisions, decisions. ...Show more →
As always, there is the price of compromise
Seriously, I had Zeiss Distagon 2/35 ZF.2 and still use Leica Summicron-R 35; Biogon 2/35 is the sharpest across the frame of all three. Is it absolutely sharp corner to corner on A7R? Nope, but instead of selling Biogon I will wait to see what sensor Sony releases in the next 3 months then 12 months after that. Sooner or later Biogon and other small RF lenses will find their alt match.
Jack, fantastic night set and interesting consideration on Zeiss 35mm... it is my preferred focal lens and I'm just waiting the announced Sony-Zeiss 1.4.
Bob, thanks again for your freezing tests of new Loxia
Edit: I forgot to mention Gregg... very nice views as usual, great compositions
