Nice shots.
Chiangmai and the north was on my travel plans this year, but some friends I was travelling with pulled out and I had to opt for an easy solo trip to Japan instead.
Maybe next year ...
Unfortunately, some folks just seem to think that their way is the only right way.
The cause of a lot of the problems of the World right now... sadly.
Thank you! Yes, it is worth going traveling to.

Very nice Joshua! Not to hijack this thread but I also saw a similar thing with the Karen Tribe in Northern Thailand....
Thank you, Gary! Your shots are excellent! These are the same folks that now live at the border between Myanmar and Thailand. There is only a slight difference in (Latin) spelling between Kayan or Karen but my understanding it is the same tribe. Our Myanmar guide, however, told me that the tribe origin is on this side of Myanmar but due to year long oppressing military rule in Myanmar/Burma, some folks from this tribe crossed over the boundary. Who knows ?

Yes, I have heard the same thing about the origin. Either way, very interesting indeed and I think one of the main reasons they hold on to this tradition is the tourism industry. My 8yr old daughter made friends with another Karen Tribe girl for the few hours we were there. It was so cute... Thanks for sharing your pics - they are wonderful.
Canon nFD 35mm f/2.8 either wide open or one click (half stop) down.
I love this lens, very small, sharp, and quick focus throw. not quite as sharp as the Samyang 35mm, but it's close.
A7II + Canon FD 50/1.4 all handheld, autoISO at f/2.2
I'm not a great lover of Canon's FD lenses - they have a certain 'look' and 'tone' that doesn't enamour them to me, I can often pick them out even before knowing they are Canon's. The exceptions being I really like the 20mm and now this 50/1.4, which looks like a great lens, thanks to your excellent shots over the past few pages. Love those snowy shots !
I really appreciate people adding Likes because it a wonderful way to give encouragement - I always do whenever I see a shot or shots that I believe merit it.
This afternoon I visited my Sony store, and they had the last day deal for A7 II with the kit zoom also FE 28-70 for AUD $1700. I had no intentions, but I succumbed
My wife Marisa loves the FE 28-70 with A7s.
Initial thoughts of the A7 II. Great camera! I never had the A7 to compare with, but compared with the A7r there is quite an improvement in feel and build. So far my testing has been with the 50 Nocti f/1.0 and 75 Lux, as the IBIS with these two Mandler lenses is wonderful to be able to shoot at 1/25s and have sharp shots. Typically I was using a 1/100s to make sure there was no camera shake. Also I have noticed quite a difference in rendering with the 50 Nocti f/1.0 and 75 Lux, and I feel it is now on par with the M240. More testing is needed but these are just my initial feelings.
First shots are with the 50 Nocti at f/1.0 and VM-E adapter
Last two are with the 75 Lux at f/1.4 and also the VM-E adapter. The shot was inside under artificial lighting and no adjustment were made. The B&W conversions work well with no adjustments via SEP II
This photograph is absolutely outstanding. In every respect.Just perfect.Even the cover page of National Geographic would not be good enough to host it.

Here are some images taken last evening in New Tripoli, PA with my tripod mounted A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 M-Rokkor lens. Images shot at about f8 and Processed in LR5.7. By the way, those are remnants of pumpkin in the 3rd image.

Thanks much! I'm liking the lens quite a bit, especially for what I paid for it (just over $100). Still it lacks the character of some other notable 50s.
Heres a few more from the same morning all at around f/2.2
Mt Whitney taken from the area above Lone Pine, CA. Experimenting here with a different way to give weight to an important but small element. A7 & 50 Lux ASPH.
