Joscha: Can only agree with the other, Wow !
Really nice Jack
Gregg: Zeiss sonnar is a very special lens ..are you considering replace Nokton /1.5?
Great set with it
Sometimes shows it show highly CA (WO) spec if you miss the exposure ..
Surely is the Planar 50/2 Zm is a better option as an all-round lens
but it don't have the special character and rendering style of the Sonnar I think
Planar50/2 Zm is a great lens, but I just love the sonnar..although it does have some drawbacks
Ronny, Boris, Charles, Werner and Kevin, thank you very much! I am glad you the images.
Great shots, Charles and Werner! Since the theme of the last few images is "candle-lit", here are 3 more images having the same theme then although the religion is different . Kevin, Myanmar is absolutely more than worthwhile. I only spent 10 days there and I was barely scratching the surface.
The first one is of a novice monk at the reclining Buddha statue taken with Leica WATE at either 16 or 18mm (sorry, I don't remember exactly) but the aperture was at f/5.6. I had to handheld that shot since the space was very tight and I had to capture it within seconds. The second one of the girl was captured at a night market in Kalaw. The candle was on the table first of... (frankly, I do not recall what she was selling ). I asked her to hold the candle higher in gesture language and she understood. For the vast majority, people in Myanmar not only do not mind having their pictures taken but they willingly pose in front of the camera. I hope that this doesn't change much if any in the future.
The last shot of two novice monks was captured at a temple at a monastery is Nyaungshwe. Again, the space was very tight and I wanted to change the angle of view, not that I wasn't too happy with the eye level shots but I wanted a different view. So, I ditched the tripod and just put the camera with the WATE at 16mm on the floor and tilted it slightly upward for that particular shot.
I mentioned it previously and say it again now, I have been extremely pleased how the A7s performs under low light shooting conditions on this trip to Myanmar and to Bali. The silent shutter for street/market shooting is simply freakin' awesome. I got shots that I couldn't pull off before.
Incredible images Josh! Both sets...but the last with the WATE is THE shot, IMO!!
Charles..awesome portraits, as always! Can't decide if I like the 50 Lux or 75 lux better?! Ronny _Olsson wrote:

Ronny...
Haven't decided yet. I really like the Nokton as it is a poor mans Lux ASPH, with great rendering, and works well for almost everything! But, like you said, it lacks the character of the Sonnar. I'm a big fan of Zeiss(and Contax), so the Planar is a safe bet, with tons of Zeiss-ness, but when you nail the focus with the Sonnar...well, it's pretty awesome. I'm also considering a Konica Hexanon 50/2(anyone have one??), and maybe picking up the Sonnar and letting the Nokton go. We'll see...I'm in no hurry...

Charles - I love that first B&W portrait you posted. Well done! PS - does the 50lux behave differently on the A7 compared to the A7s?
Joshua - these shots are great! The last shot has perfect light and lines.
Joshua, gorgeous places and so beautifully captured! Thank you for sharing.
Charles, fabulous portraits. Who needs Kubrick’s f/0.7 lenses to shoot with candlelight when A7s is available
Good morning from cold Vancouver! (well, -5C and 1cm of snow/frost)
Nice light on that shot Werner. Always a fan of your church interiors. Wished I was into photography when I lived in Germany during the 1990s for eight years.
