Here are 2 images from the Japan America Kite Festival taken today with the Sony 24-70mm FE OSS lens, the recipient of bad online reviews. I hesitated to buy it based on its online reputations. A few FMers, like Werner Utsch and robbie36, among others, have been posting nice images taken with that lens on this thread. So, when I had the chance to buy one from a local seller at a price I couldn't refuse a few weeks ago, I pounced on it. Frankly, this lens performs better, actually way better than its online reputation. A shooting buddy of mine bought one just recently and he is also very pleased with its performance.
This guy was flying in total of 160 American and Japanese flags... Let me tell you, it takes some effort to hold the string after all 160 kites were up. The third image is of a Taiko drum performance at the same event in Seal Beach taken with a different. This is a typical Southern California weather

Sweet pics - and that must have been an awesome event to see!
FWIW I've owned the Sony 24-70mm FE OSS lens for 3 days now and I'm equally impressed with its performance. The internet reviews are so very different from what I am experiencing. I can only guess that the first rushed batch of this lens had significant copy variations.
More fantastic images on this page from everyone! Those 24-70 OSS shots look really great Josh!! (Just say NO!!!, Gregg....)
Here are a bunch of shots from various lenses. Today we went to see Thomas and Percy at Roaring Camp Here in Felton, CA. Gio was beside himself!!
another shot at the pumpkin farm yesterday with the Contax 35-70 stopped down w/CPL

Kite festival is kool but what about footbal, hockey, soccer?
Regardless how well liked and how well the A7 series cameras perform, as shown in this thread, they are not designed to be the camera of choice for sport. In addition, the selection of more suitable native lenses is simply currently not there. This is the current state of affairs with mirrorless camera bodies in general, BTW. Things may change in the future, however.

Thanks, Dave! Yours from Montreal are awesome . There seems to be a growing number of users of this lens lately...

Thanks, Gregg! Yours using the Contax 35-70mm and this using the G90 are great. The IQ of the FE 24-70mm is indeed fine but what I like about this lens is the smallish form factor, lightweight, it has OS and the fact that it is a native lens. So, no need for any adapter. Those factors add up, rendering this lens as a great walk-around lens, especially for travel. Frankly, my Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 Mark II is a better and faster lens but it comes with a price in terms of form factor, adapter consideration, etc.
