35mm is a great focal length, no doubt and the RX1 has a phantastic lens, is very small and a super handy camera.
BUT even used it still runs at about 1500€. I will think about it again when it is around 1000€, the beautiful thing about my lenses is that they don't loose value, they get more expensive. This makes justifying emptying my bank account for lenses much easier, than for a camera which will loose 500€ in a year.
yeah, there's probably no good financial reason to get one, though i do think the depreciation is leveling off. my problem is that despite having 2 other unique and somewhat rarified 35mm lenses to play with, its clear to me when ever i shoot them that the rx1 is better at everything except portraits in certain circumstances and i can't help seeing it when i look at photos from them.
I completed a very hard mountaineering objective a few weekends ago. It was tough due to a long, complicated approach and because of this, I brought my A7S with a few OM lenses rather than the much larger FE lenses. In general this worked very well, all shots are at f/8 or f/11 except the Milky Way which was f/4.
Hello everyone! I am new here. I sold my Nikon D610 and got a Sony A7s straight after.
I am still in the process of learning how to use it (it's a real big change for me) but I am starting to enjoy the camera more and more.
I am also changing completely my lens lineup and selling all my fast glass from Nikon (35/1.4 AIS, 85/1.4 AIS and 180/2.8 ED AIS - already sold a bunch of other fast lenses) and moving towards M-mount lenses, although I will still buy lenses in other mounts when they are cheap. Talking of cheap, I received today the Yashica DSB 135/2.8 that I bought on eBay UK for under $50 (already including shipping to Sweden) and I just came back from a walk with the dog and the A7s with this Yashica on it.
Shot it only wide open @ f/2.8 and it didn't really impress. A normal performing lens I guess. What do you guys think?
I ended up finding a Leica Tele-Elmar 4/135 a couple of days after and bought it. The lens arrived today but I am still waiting for the m-mount adaptor to arrive on the mail. It is a stop slower but I am sure it will perform a lot better so this Yashica will soon be on its way again since my hopes are to only have lenses in M-mount.

Ramos, the Yashica lens seems to be plenty sharp based on the images you posted. However, I don't like the bokeh as displayed on No. 3 that much; it is a bit busy for my taste.
The advantage of using Leica M-mount lenses is the adapter is fairly thin; thinner than the adapter for DSLR lenses. But in practical terms, it doesn't mean much, at least to me. Down to about 35mm Leica M-lenses are generally fine on the Sony A7/r/s but wider than that it becomes tricky. Personally, I like DSLR lenses over the Leica M lenses in the 135mm focal length. The exception is the Leica 135mm f/3.8 Apo-Telyt but the price of the lens is steep and it is not that fast. If you like that 135mm focal length, I would look into lenses from Olympus OM, Contax, Canon FD, among others. Enjoy your A7s further!
Thanks Joshua. I do not enjoy the bokeh either and that would be the main reason to let it go. The photos are fine, just nothing spectacular. Nevertheless, they are good for what I paid for the lens and it is always fun to shoot some new lenses from time to time.
I really don't like to see the long adaptors on the A7s, especially on shorter focal lengths. It just looks silly. I have read plenty of good about the Tele-Elmar 135/4 that I just bought though and I think I got it for a fair price so I won't loose any more when I decide to resell it.
I took some other photos (portraits) with the A7s and the Nikkor 85/1.4 AIS which are really nice but I will be selling that lens cause it is simply to heavy and big for what I want now.
Regarding the lenses under 35mm not working so good, I think there are still some options out there and from the 3 models, I guess the S is the one that shows less problems.
My favorite light today; sun and dark clouds together. I feel so blessed to have nice views less than 15 minutes walk from home.
A7 with C/Y 28mm/2.8 (# 3, 4 and 6) and C/Y 85mm/2.8 (# 1, 2 and 5). Btw. the 85mm is exceeding my expectations by far!
