In 1680, massive Basgo fort was the site of a three year siege by Mongol and Tibetan forces. The Ladakhi king eventually called on the Mughal emperor who sent his army and cleaned up the interlopers. (Sony/Zeiss 16-80)
Unlike most European palaces, the Potala has around seven stories over most of it. It's absolutely huge, around 400m in length and 350m in width, no one really knows how many chambers and rooms, generally understood to be over 1,000. This one shows the middle half of it.
Found this wonderfully twisted old tree while exploring a canyon along the Colorado–Utah border. I came back to it after dark and used a red light to paint the tree against the Milky Way. The clouds weren't necessarily part of the plan, but I ended up really liking the atmosphere they added to the scene.
