I think for the 3 shots I just posted, the depth of field is probably less than 1/4".

Thank you very much, Doug! You can stop down a little bit to get a little bit more depth-of-field but regardless, we are focusing on the eyes and your hummingbird images are lovely, whether the entire body is in focus or not.
This old beater is typical of its breed - it's a Tata diesel, and they are near indestructible. You see guys under them all over India, fixing this and that. This one is a bit rugged on cold mornings, with no windscreen! The driver was happy to pose for his pic, taken with a Thypoch Simera 28/1.4.
