Thanks for the insight! I loved the 135L on my 5dIII, that along with the TS-E 24 are the two I wish I still had for the a7. I almost had another in a trade a few days ago, but that fell through. I'm hoping the OM will tide me over until we find out more about the road map... and it is 1/4 the cost of a Metabones adapter!

Today I was again enjoying short flange distance benefits, this time with Minolta MC Rokkor-PG 1:1.2 f=58mm. I have wanted this lens ~5 years, but never bothered to convert one to EF-mount. Light was really crappy, most of the time about f/1.2, 1/100s, ISO 250 - few times clouds let little more light past them and was able to shoot few frames with ISO 100. Luckily A7 seems to produce usable results even at ISO 400. For web even ISO 6400 does very well, but for normal print size & screen evaluation ISO 800 starts to be too noise for my taste.

BTW. Is it normal for Rokkor 58/1.2 to show slight glow when shoot wide open? It can be seen at least on #01 and #03. And on #04 the part of image, which is between focus point and camera is lighter/brighter than it would be if it would be in focus.

Notice: Vignetting has been decreased by settings in Iridient Developer (otherwise default slide positions on vignetting correction but moved first slider from 0 to 25)..

^Congrats on getting the Rokkor, The copies i've tried all do have a slight glow wide open, but your photos show more glow than i remember it to make, i could be mistaken though. The bokeh becomes really lovely stopped down to f2-2.8 IMO

Here's a ZM50 shot, for some reason I still think i like the G45 better. Can't quite figure out why though.

Thanks. I think this version is with the oldest coatings. Not sure the information about 58/1.2 versions wasn't clearest possible in the internet.

Damn, I assumed this is "wide open"-lens and shoot almost all tests wide open. Well, there wouldn't have been enough light for f/2.8 shooting anyways. I shoot few with f/2.8 and contrast raised a lot but had to raise ISO too high.

I want both, but don't know yet which of the ZM-version. G45 is so cheap that I think I just have to get one, also I "must" get it because went to post office few days ago to receive package and at home I found Contax G adapter from the package even I don't remember ordering one

PS. Once posted photo like yours and got feedback that "you can't post photo which isn't sharp in center"

Thanks for info - I was actually surprised of field's flatness (positive surprise). Flat field is not very important for me, as I usually shoot real organic 3D objects and rarely man made flat stuff.

really like the last shot.

the rokkor has a rather large amount of SA causing noticeable glow at wide apertures, it is particularly noticeable if you have bright highlights near the focus plane and a subject that is partially in front of of the focus plane (i mean closer to the camera than the focus plane). you images look a little glowier than i'd expect, but it's probably just due to the compositions. the rokkor does have a flatter field (even at f/1.2) and more even level of sharpness than any other fast 50 i've shot with. the trade off with this is that it is not as sharp and contrasty in the center as many other fast 50s.

samuli � for your shooting style i suspect f/2 will be the optimal aperture on the rokkor. contrast jumps up substantially at f/2 and the bokeh smooths out a lot as well while still retaining a bit of character and a bit of SA.

zeiss's mtfs indicate that the g45 is slightly sharper over most of the frame. it always seems a little harsher to me in rendering as well. shame about the hexagonal aperture blades.

+1 about Rokkor's cross frame performance. In my recent test include 50lux M, R, 50cron M and R, 50 nikkor 1.2, 1.8G(only tested f16 for this one, no smart adaptor) and 58mm rokkor.
Rokkor is #1 at f2 and #1 or tie at f2.8. after that, it is getting close to each other. Granted, M lens struggled at A7R.

A image with Nikkor 1.2 AIS at f5.6 with A7R. it is belong no where but here

+1 My experience totally maps onto Derek's here. I am not afraid to shoot my Rokkor wide open, but I shoot it at f/2 a lot more often. I think it is often the optimum aperture.

Sigma 15 fish....

Zuiko 21 3.5 (really enjoying this lens on the A7)....(I also own the 28mm 3.5 and I tested it today vs the C/Y 28 2.8 and the Zuiko was surprisingly close).....

This is wide open with the Zuiko 21mm....

The OM 24mm f/2.8 has been working out quite nicely at f11 considering it's bargain price. The CY100P is becoming my favourite walkabout lens with it's sweet rendering.
