There’s a kind of true grit you don’t have to invent — it’s already there in worn paint, old steel, and the places they still occupy. This one stopped me because the light and color made something ordinary feel substantial.

Was hoping for a pink sunrise this morning but it wasn't meant to be. The way the temperature is trending, the ice/snow may not melt until March, so there will be still opportunities for a proper sunrise at this location.

Braved the bitter cold yesterday to take a walk over the Manhattan Bridge, then down into Brooklyn Bridge Park. The local news led me to believe the East River was almost completely iced in, but I was disappointed to find that there was very little ice!! Oh well.
A7ii with a semi-vintage Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 "Adaptall" lens, shot at f/5.6. I'm impressed with the lack of distortion and edge-to-edge sharpness! No lens corrections were applied except for a little horizon leveling. Vignetting is added in post.

Same scene as above, but taken from ground level in Brooklyn Bridge Park. (If you reference the 1st image taken from the bridge. I'm in the lower left area where you see a little ice along the shore.) DSC07788
Gotta love 17mm. Captured the Freedom Tower, Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge all in one (non pano) photo. DSC07794
People travel from all over the world to photograph this iconic scene! The Empire State Building centered inside the Manhattan Bridge arch. Washington St., DUMBO Brooklyn. DSC07776
