Originally, I wanted to buy another lens and the seller had this Sony 24mm f/2.0 ZA lens in mint condition. I couldn't resist not buying this lens at a great combined price with the other one. One feature that I like about this lens, in addition to the silent focusing feature, is the close focusing range. Well, here are a few shots at wide open to display what this lens can do even at wide open aperture and I am pleased with its performance.
Sebboh-- Hobbes (finally just figured that out). I just love the shots from the C/Y 35 1.4. I'd never get rid of that lens if I were you. The other ones are great too, but there's something about the 35/1.4. Do your kids hate the camera? Mine are always saying, "Daddy put the camera away and just play!" I try to find a good balance, not always succeeding. Hard to beat the free models as I learn.
GreggF--- Great shots! You're going to torture your son with that pic some day!
Not going to win any competitions with this lens, but my neighbor gave it to me for free. I think it would make a great walk around/vacation lens. Wish it went a little wider though.
A fraternity brother of mine (University of Denver) from way back in the day was in town visiting and we had a great time catching up and golfing today.

Yay! "--enable-monitor-profile" to the rescue - now my pictures in Chrome look (on my monitor) like they do with LR and every other app. Apparently this command-line switch is pretty important on wide-gamut displays on Windows.

ha, Hobbes isn't my real name either just a pseudonym that was already taken. my name is Derek.
i agree the c/y 35/1.4 is a magical lens. it's the best lens I've owned at making mediocre shots look special and the best portrait lens I've owned period. that said, I was planning on selling it to help fund the new (and smaller) zm 35/1.4. the c/y is a big lens and I mostly only use it around the house. otherwise I use my rx1, which is smaller and lighter than the c/y without the camera and a better performer - though a stop slower and with a bit less magic.
as far as the kids go, my daughter doesn't seem to really notice yet, though her friends do. I think the camera is just something I always have that she doesn't really notice. she just realized that you can see the picture right after you take it (thanks to one of her friends though ). I gave her a film camera to play with and I never chimp so I guess she figured only phones show picture right away.
Hi Serhan - not a criticism of your work, but there are some horrific colour shifts to purple in some of those shots. Can you please tell us which lenses you were using ?
CV 12mm has the color shift. I should be using the LR profile correction... The others were Contax g 45mm and Tamron EF 28-300mm VC that I was testing... Contax g 45mm is impressive on A7R and Tamron is good on the wider side, horrible at long end with 1/3 macro...

Some ISO 12,800 - 25,600 Pics from my A7S
I like the graininess; it is definitely very film-like, especially in B&W . With that said though, it seems that it is grainier than what I remember coming from my A7s. Hmm, come to think of it, my LR default setting incorporates a minor noise reduction level. That's it! I really enjoy the A7s.... and to a certain degree, more so than the A7r , except for the resolution, of course.
