Another stupid lens question: Is it possible that a lens performs wonderfully wideopen in bright sunlight, but gives terrible muddy results on overcast days? I have a minolta 35-105/3.5-4.5 that has given me some pics that I really love on brighter days at ISO 100, but on hazier days only bumping up the ISO to 250-300 creates dull muddled pictures?
I guess a low contrast lens might do that. On sunny days, the sun would provide the contrast needed for nice shots, but on overcast days, the low contrast nature would come through. Have you tried giving the contrast knob a healthy shove?
New FE lenses coming early next year:
28mm f/2.0 (with converters for 16 fisheye and 21 ultra wide)
24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS
35mm Zeiss f/1.4
90mm f/2.8 macro

I've tried everything with the files. I was using it at the longer FL's which gave it a smaller aperture than before and it was a very grey cloudy day. I'm not really sure, but It'll take some more experimenting. I have an LA-EA4 on the way and look forward to trying out some older Minolta lenses.
The images all have low contrast, low detail and just aren't very sharp in general.
Very nice Wilhelm! Gotta love the Contax 35-70! I know I do!!
Werner...the FE 24-70 in your hands really rocks!!
I really like the first and third shots Paul...
Speaking of 35-70's...I had sold my Minolta MD 35-70/3.5 Macro, but I mistakenly put the condition as a 9 when it should have been maybe an 8.5...needless to say, the buyer returned it to me(it's all good!!), and I'm kinda glad...this lens holds a very, very close second to the Contax 35-70...
Here are some shots with said lens while walking on West Cliff Dr in Santa Cruz...it was a dreary foggy day, hence the BW's.
