So, I re-purchased a 55 Zeiss from MBP, and was concerned about the sharpness wide open. Thankfully I had some willing subjects yesterday to test this lens out at 1.8. Shot on A7CII.

We recently went on a tour of 4 out the mighty 5s (Arch, Canyonlands, Captain Reefs, Bryce) in Utah with only Tamron 28-70 2.8 G2 and Tamron 70-180 2.8 and my trusty A7 III. It was the Fall and the weather was gorgeous. We had a wonderful time and both lenses and camera performed way above my expectations under less-than-ideal light conditions.
I will try to post my best pictures in installments but if you are interested in seeing them, they are located on my self-hosted image server: piwigo.shen-family.org.

Captured using GM 85 but separated by some 7 years... Very pleased with the results back then and still pleased now...
Joshua, that Venice image is really captivating me - I love the high key feel, the beautiful shade of blue on the model, the contrasting slightly warm color tone behind, the bokeh, and the lovely skin tones. Perfect! I am one who prefers the rendering of the original 85/1.4 GM.

As a huge cat lover, I enjoy your set here! You have beautiful kitties, and that Sony 55mm is looking really good.

Here’s an ethereal misty fall scene from a few days ago in the Smokies:
Thank you very much, Ross! I am happy you like the image from Venice. For whatever reason, the new GM 85mm II doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe because I have been enjoying the bokeh of the classic lens...
Your fall color images are exquisite and the misty ones are even more so...
