Zanskar is such big country and up so close. A shepherd's dwelling is lost in the vastness and the terraced barley fields. CY 35-70/3.4 struts its stuff, again and again.

I've had this ring flash for awhile but haven't had a chance to really use it. I didn't feel like lugging the beauty dish across the city so I just stuck the grid on and packed it in my backpack. Shot one handed and used my other hand to hold the ring flash raised and to the left. Worked pretty well. Just a little bit of fill light goes a long way.

Thank you so much, Eric! Our hearts our broken today, but I know it will get better. We are grateful for the years.
Beautiful dog you have!
Thanks!
I just noticed that we both posted images with 35/1.2 lenses. Gotta love ‘em! I’m sure you got lots of good pictures of Max over the years. Those images will always be worth it. 👊

Oh, that is cool! Yes the 35/1.2’s make fine pet imagers

Today we had to say goodbye to our amazing feline boy, Max. For 16 1/2 years he brought so much joy to our home. He will forever be in our hearts.
Very sorry for your loss, Ross. The hardest part of owning pets is when they pass. We lost our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 8 years ago, I still think of him all the time. My second one will be 12 soon...

Douglas, thank you! It’s heartbreaking to lose these special friends. It’s an honor to love and care for them. I hope you have much more time with your Cavalier King Charles.
After Max’s passing yesterday my wife & I took a slow walk through the autumn woods at our local state park, seeking some peaceful visuals to help buffer the feelings of loss. I like this little composition from that stroll because it says something to me about how our lives, like trees with branches reaching out, intertwine with those we love and share our life paths with.
