I put a water feature in my yard to attract migrating birds. Summer doldrums are here but this was going on yesterday. Nesting is going on with the locals.

Finally some hummingbird shots from my yard. This time last year I had six or seven, but this year I have seen two only, and they are unusually skittish.

One day I will go to the West Coast of North America, catch 10.000 hummingbirds, get them home and release them. Then I'll eventually have an opportunity to photograph those lovely little midgets here!

They are amazing creatures! Certain parts of the west coast US and Canada have them year around. But on the east coast we only have the ruby-throated hummingbirds that are migratory. It's hard to imagine how these little birds can fly none stop over the Gulf of Mexico. I can't wrap my head around this.
This is an amazing documentary, a bit long. Wish we had the variety of hummingbirds up here.
To my American FM friends, happy Independence Day!
