As I was photographing this unique home in Aberdeen, a car drove up into the drive, and out got an older gentleman (around 80). I was on public property, but I introduced myself and complimented the unique design of the stainless steel roof and placement on steep slope.
It turns out that this was the man I'd heard about, who designed and installed (with help of contractors) all the elements of the house. He invited me in for a tour of the building and grounds! What a great treat to talk with him on the manufacturing, installation, and upkeep of the property (which is at least 20-30 years old now).

Sunset over a tranquil lake in Idaho. I was wishing at the time that I had my 200-600, but I'm glad I "only" had the 70-200, as I like this wider angle of the whole beautiful scene.

Such peaceful setting, well captured!
Back to my favorite genre, from the Oceana airshow last Saturday. Shot at slow shutter speed to show the propeller motion, The gentleman sitting next to me came all the way from Switzerland, he drove/flew around the US for 30 days to see different airshows. I thought I was crazy to drive 250 miles to see a show.

The old Morck Hotel -- closed for around 40 years. Used to be the centerpiece of any celebrations or hosting dignitaries to the region. There are talks from time to time to rehab the building, but costs must be prohibitive. The interior has had most walls removed, as well as electrical and water.
Fun fact: The old US interstate Highway 12 begins in downtown Aberdeen and ends in Detroit, Michigan.
Funny fact: The downtowns of both cities look almost the same with decrepit vacant buildings and trash-strewn lots -- only a difference in scale.
