I ran across from my film days a 52mm Nikon #2 Soft Filter. A miserable thick fog rolled in (we live at the NJ beach) and I decided to photograph the beach in the fog with the soft filter. In this shot the fog is just starting to lift with a hint of blue in the sky. Almost all of my modern lenses have much bigger filter threads than 52mm so I chose the diminutive Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8 filter with 49-52mm step up ring. Exposure was 1/50 at f8 +1/2 EV, ISO 400. Rain and gull added pp. Image finished in Topaz.

A few shots of of propeller planes at Langley airshow on Saturday. IMHO propeller planes are the most challenging to shoot if propeller motion is the goal, tough to get sharp pictures at these shutter speed. I got maybe 2% in enough focus that can be salvaged in post.

Love the heritage flight pics
Heard at an airshow once with similar mix of Spitfire and Eurofighter Typhoon that the typhoon was tough to fly slow alongside the spitfire, totally different birds with very different stall speeds

Thank you John! I have seen Spitfires flying here, legendary plane! The heritage flights are tough, not only a slow shutter speed is required for the prop. motion of the war birds, the new fighter jet(s) is usually in a different focal plane, even at f16 they don't look to be all in focus.
Jets are much easier to shoot. F-22 from the Langley show.

Thank you! We were in a little Cessna! Type 172 I believe. It was a wonderful experience really; although my wife started screaming when I took 'the wheel'. So I quickly gave it back to the pilot
