Looking at the the fenced in 4 Acre American Chestnut test Grove in Autumn Color and into the distance. The American Chestnut had been a major constituent of the Eastern United States Forests until the Chestnut Blight in the first half of the 20th century killed most of the trees. Roots of the trees in the forests have been putting up suckers since that grow to as much as about 20' tall before dying back due to the Blight. This 4 Acre Test Grove is part of the efforts to develop and breed blight resistant trees to be reintroduced into the Eastern Forests.

Near the top of the Preserve near the fenced in 4 Acre American Chestnut test Grove, Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA.
Kosciuszko NP has had around 800mm of rain in three months, transforming this environment into what we expect in Tasmania. (cross-posted in dedicated 75/1.5 thread)
Early in the morning, the surrounding jungle around the observation towers in the Amazon basin of Ecuador was always foggy. The sun was not always visible though. This the strongest sunrise out of two I witnessed and it was only for a brief period…The other mornings remained cloudy, which were okay for bird photography as long as the birds were not a mile away…
