It's always the ones you want perfect that are hardest to process, and so it was here. This is June on the Kunzum La, showing another very healthy glacier micro-ecology. The 'road' gives some idea why the pass is so feared. It takes 20 minutes of jaw-clenching switchbacks, with oncoming traffic forcing the cars to the very edge, very few pull-out spots. Worse, the track is not even or stable across its width (it's just been pushed by a 'dozer driven by the really brave guys) so you get this seasick-inducing rocking going on over the worst of it.

I have noticed before that birds hold their eyes in a horizontally level position whereas their wings can be all over the place, like almost vertically up and down. This owl seems to do that too. Interesting.
