Thank you K-H! You got some beautiful landscape pictures with the amazing clouds! This sunflower farm is only 5 minutes drive from my house, so I will be making some more stops there at sunrise the coming days.
Back to regular programing, hummingbirds in my yard this weekend.
These shots from last Wed. were posted in the A1 thread few days ago. I had never shot airshows longer than 600mm on a full frame camera before so I wanted to try something different this time. I had the 600mm GM+1.4 TC on one of the A1s, and the 200-600 on the second A1. I think I am digging 840mm! Got some real closeup shots, without resulting to massive cropping. But handholding it for more than 2 minutes can be a challenge.
The first one is the Geico Skytypers, tragically one of the pilots was killed in a crash on Friday (2 days after this picture was taken) in a practice run for this weekend's show in Pennsylvania.

An ancient glacier path, now characterised by massive rock churn at the top of the slide; high walls on either side; and bottom drainage with rubble field residue. Even in a low snow year, the ultra fertile soil supports crops and trees. At the top is a 4960m pass with ~5500m mountains on either side.
Well ahead of a 2.5 week camping trip my 50GM isn't going to arrive in time. I only have the 20G & 135GM so picked up a Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN to get a normal focal length. I'm of two minds with the lens after running around on a harshly lit cityside with it today. I think I might be impressed mostly because I got it for $250 AUD.. though it really is a far cry from my other two lenses, It's really conflicting.
I don't consider this set up to my usual standard but wanted to post these up for those who may have some interest in the tiny 45mm.

Cropped, tripod mounted 200-600mm G set to 594mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 200, f6.3, 1/500 second.
Exposure Corrected +0.59 Stops.
