Ghost Mantis (Phyllocrania paradoxa) update. He successfully completed his final molt and got his wings. What an incredible transformation to witness at each stage. The final metamorphosis is the most dramatic as his size virtually doubled in the span of only a few hours and he obtained wings; Ghost Mantis do not have wings until their final molt. Just as amazing is his innate ability to fly, and unlike human beings, he's able to engage in such a highly-coordinated motor activity without needing to learn or practice it beforehand. The process reminds me of creatures, like giraffes, who are born and then within minutes stand and begin to walk. Nothing short of incredible.
Anyway, here are a few shots I've been able to take over the past couple of days.
