Birdie,

Thank you so much! I didn't post this photo for the longest time because I wasn't sure people would like it. I really appreciate your kind feedback.

This female falcon just landed with a prey, a starling that her mate gave to her mid-air. In the second image, she was about to devour the prey.

The Kings Arms is a shamefully derelict pub in Devonport - it's scale, location and tendency to be surrounded by parked trucks make it difficult to photograph ...another use for 14mm

Here are some rough (non-scientific) comparisons of the Batis 18 and Loxia 21, same subjects and roughly same shooting positions, but exposure/PP tweaked to get in the ballpark. Mainly done to compare angle of view and "look." On one shot, the Loxia aperture ring got moved accidentally to f/9.0, instead of f/8, but doesn't affect the outcome.

Batis examples shown first, followed by Loxia.

Thanks for this most useful comparison. To my eyes, both lens are very close, with the Loxia, maybe, having a touch more resolution. I am trying to decide whether to acquire one of those two lenses, possibly the Voigtlander 21/3.5 FE.

Thank you so much!

I was pleased to see that both the Batis 18 and Loxia 21 were so compatible and nearly interchangeable (IQ-wise). Both are very sharp, matching color palette, great contrast and have little distortion (I didn't use lens profile or distortion correction, other than perspective).

The CV 21/1.4 would be a good choice if you want to follow in its "CV look". But of course one would pay a good amount, even used, and have a heavy lens on hand. From what I've seen, the CV 21/3.5 is good, but no match in IQ to either the CV 21/1.4, Batis 18, or Loxia 21. If it were me, I would not hesitate to buy the Loxia 21, which is an insanely low price on the used market. Of course, the CV 21/3.5 is a nice lens with good IQ, and to some owners, a very appealing small size. When you get down to it, they are all very nice UWA lenses.
