Really? Interesting; I have the 135mm SMC Tak (M42) and to be polite, it's junk.
Same M42. Maybe yours had a defect or it was a case of sample variation. But side by side there was no contest (for me). The Tak offered much better contrast/colour/sharpness. Maybe it was my CZJ that was defective ! Both were clear of mould / no scratches and looked gorgeous.
Here is a '135mm Test War'. Make of it what you will.
Here are some images that I took last evening at the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA with my tripod mounted A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 M-Rokkor lens. All images processed in LR5.5.

Funny Ryan...we both live in "Surf Cities"!!
The Contax 35-70 will be hitting the FS board along with the Minolta 35-70 macro. I just received a new to me Leica R 4/35-70 Macro. I used it briefly last night with my 1D4(the A7 is in Texas getting the shutter button replaced), and was quite blown away. I'll take the Leica to work today and pop off shots.

Now that IS interesting ! I'd love to hear more. I have the Minolta, I had the Contax before (used on Pentax - I loved the lens) but have just been offered the R 4/35-70 for $500 (glass and mechanics perfect, just a few paint chips), in pristine condition they go for $900 here.

Hi Gregg,
Interesting comments...
I know you are busy but if you could post a few comparatives between the Contax, Minolta & your new Leica, I for one would be very interested to view them.
I just received the Sigma 35/1.4 Art lens yesterday, & I am blown away by this lens' rendering of mundane subjects. There is a reason good glass fetches a premium price. It's almost magic.
Canon 55mm F1.2, @ F11, ISO 100, Shutter Speed 1/125, Sony A7R
I am not sure how I feel about this lens. I love the color, but at times, it can be grainy. I am interested in reading others experiences with Canon lenses on Sony cameras. In the past several days, I have found if make a Lightroom preset, to eliminate all the default sharpening, much of the granular noise goes away.
