The Sony G 200-600 / 5.6-6.3 works best as a lens for photographing birds and animals, but a week ago I decided to personally check how it can handle taking landscape photos.
Well, as I suspected I use the 400-600mm range rather seldom for this purpose.Something smaller and lighter,say 100-400, would be better in this case.
So the Sony G 200-600 / 5.6-6.3 is, despite the best wishes, a lens not for me, although very good in its class.

Along Carpet Road, New Tripoli, PA.
I did capture some birds at the wildlife area almost 2 hours away from where I live last Tuesday. On the way out, I saw this dead tree and the lighting/clouds were just wonderful. It was for sure too dark to get meaningful bird images but the blue hour conditions were great for landscape.
I received a new to me lens, a Sigma 45mm f/2.8, and I mounted it on my old but trusted A7r II. Before I left, somehow I felt like taking that setup with me and it did come in handy. I ran to the spot, and took a few shots. Here is one of them. I am very pleased with the performance of the lens for landscape.
I took advantage of a slight break in the rainy weather we've been having, to grab some side lit shots of the older section of town, dating from just after the pioneer days, when forestry products were booming the region's economy in the late 1800s to early 1900s.
Here's a shot from the east side of town, only a few hundred feet from the Wishkah River.
