the 18 is a MMJ Contax Yashica. The biggest thing that stands out so far is the obvious dark corners on the 18 and the CA. Both of which are easily addressed in LR.
For me, the 18 is a great hiking lens. The 21 is better but more of a burden.
Some incredible images above! ebookman...nice first shots with the C/Y 35 2.8. Great colors...
Here are some more shots from this last weekend from our camping trip at Big Sur.
Gregg
Beautiful from Big Sur, Gregg!
Reminds me and makes me a little nostalgic on our stay there (many years ago) at the Ventana and Post Ranch Inn.
Took lots of Photographs there, on film of course that time.

Lens test: Contax,Carl Zeiss Distagon 2,8/35 C/Y mount. I just purchased this lens here on the FM forum. These are the first shots on an A7r I decided to try the C/Y lens before considering the 35FE.
Fantastic pop on the Lavender shot !
I've had three Contax lenses (used on Pentax 2-3 years ago and sold off about 18 months ago - if only I'd waited !) and without exception they have been superb ; 28/2.8, VS 35-70 & 85/1.4 and a few Zeiss too 21/2.8, 35/2 and now 100/2 and I love them all !
I absolutely wouldn't hesitate to buy an MMJ (considering the 80-200 at the moment) especially when, compared to the FE 35/2.8 & 55/1.8, there is (and I'm reposting this from another thread) a premium on Zeiss-Sony glass (as with all Sony products across the board).
Especially when compared to say Pentax's pancakes or very small primes (15mm, 21mm, 40mm) the 35/2.8 is US$0 (15mm - metal construction), $150 (21mm) and $100 (40mm) more expensive and yet neither FE look as well built (though maybe looks can be deceiving).
If the size and weight the Contax lenses are not an issue then they are not only superb but wonderful value for money.

Hi Werner,
That's an awful long way to come for vacation! But I bet your stay at Ventana was pretty awesome!! Last time I was in Heidelburg was 25 yrs ago when I was stationed at Bad Kissingen with the 11th ACR. We did maneuvers all over germany(West, then)!!
Gregg
Yea Gregg, thats funny i lived that time, as well about 25 years ago, in California, Yorba Linda, Orange County. We drove quite some times Hwy 1 from LA via Santa Babara to the Big Sur Area. I have not been back to CA since we sold our house in the end of the 90's and moved back to Germany. That's to dangerous for us : We just would stay there again.
The Ventna was, and i think still is, a remembrance of the glorious Flower Power days, a mystic place.
When i see yours and others pics from CA i always feel homesick......theres a big love for your country
BTW, your posts transport the "feeling" of the area very well
Took the family and in-laws to the Chama railroad ride yesterday. A very long day, but fun.
Out of about 664 shots, I had around 60 keepers. 10% sounds low, but when you're on a jostling train using manual lenses, contending with kids, other riders, smoke, etc. it's not too bad Of course, it doesn't help that none of my lenses are truly focused at the infinity stop besides my Canon 20/2.8.
I mean, even the FE 35/2.8, using MF, goes past infinity focus...and it's focus-by-wire. What the hell good is that?
