BTW - I shot using compressed RAW. I just reading that on Sony it is not lossless compression unlike my Fuji? If true, how much I am loosing picture quality wise? I can do a test but wanted to ask.
You'd be hard-pressed to tell a difference. I know DPR did a report on it and showed examples of banding / posterization on very high contrast shots (think astrophotography) and you *might* see a tiny bit when doing some extreme shadow lifting in post, but from what I can tell, the difference is almost zilch.
I've done some A/B testing with 12 vs 14 with hard edits and honestly it's almost a non-issue for 99% of cases...the other 1% will be forced to shoot uncompressed.
That said, I think it's a shame Sony hasn't implemented lossless compressed RAW. That's just being damn lazy, especially with a 61MP camera now.

[Well, that answers a few questions re focus fade and near-plane OOF, cheers Barry!]
You are most welcome Philip, I should probably put these test snaps from today in the other 50AL thread/s.
You may glimmer some more insight from the lenses character.

We had some thunderstorms roll through for a couple nights while on a recent vacation in Maui. The combination of clear skies and lightning provided a fun opportunity for some long exposure photography
(i) early morning at Rangdum Monastery, in the western Himalaya. The monastery is the top structure, the lower green roof building is the army checkpost, necessary because terrorists from the west country killed some monks a few years back. (ii) the road (top right) for scale, I often lean out of the jeep. [Ronnie, my guess rate for the 100MP in your work is very high - what a distinctive lens.]
