One of the best examples from the 200-600 I've seen. I've been underwhelmed by the vast majority, but you've put it to great use as always!!

Hi Peire,

How does it work? Not too well for anything moving . . . This Sigma Art zoom is very slow to pick focus (lots of hunting, and sometimes fails) unless strong contrasting areas are in focus zone. Only slightly better than using MF, which is an option, of course. AF accuracy is very good once it decides to settle. The great thing is that all electronic functions and exif work great, so you get auto-aperture which is terrific. Also, IS info is transmitted on all Nikon electronic lenses, including AF/D versions -- if it can read the lens focal length, it can auto-apply IBIS, at least on 3-axis.

My Nikon 50/1.8G and 24-120/4G work very fast on acquiring focus, just the aftermarket lenses seem not quite suited for the Commlite, except with patience or MF.

Earlier Nikon MF and AF/D can be used in MF mode, which is good.

Seems to produc a little bit of mechanical vignetting in extreme corners -- nothing major, as I often straighten and crop slightly toward 4:3 or 4:5 formats, or blend overlap for pano.

In reviewing the shots, this adapter might be causing lenses slightly front-focus, but nothing awful. DOF behind seems somewhat shallower than I would expect, and some closer objects seem a touch sharper than I would expect. Generally, this works to separate the subject better from the background at mid-apertures. My first Commlite Pro exhibited this very strongly, until I made repair on it (see below explanation).

No apparent internal flaring, so even as a "semi-dumb" adapter, it is better than most for MF. Contrast is very good -- no contrast, dehaze or clarity added here. Actually lifted the shadows to about +40 and decreased the highlights about -20 (boosted whites around +10, for more "sparkle").

This is my second unit (keeping both) and optically, it seems there is an increase in barrel distortion and field curvature -- nothing awful, so long as you keep it in mind.

The results seem to parallel my first copy, although more comparison is needed to confirm with more lenses. The first copy had wrong thickness mounting surfaces, so I could never achieve infinity, until I managed to get replacement front and back flanges from HK which cleared up that major problem. So both these seem about the same for flange distance now. Price of the first one was around $200 on B&S, and this one was under $130, so I grabbed it to keep one mounted on my 45/2.8 PS-E shift lens to actuate the diaphragm and exif.

This one was nearly impossible to fix AF on, up near the top portion of the post.

This one was not so bad to grab focus -- smaller target -- go figure! :)

OMG - that Speedster! What a beauty. My dad had a '55 Speedster at one time. We found it in an elderly lady's garage in upstate New York sitting under a pile of chenille blankets. It had been her late husband's Sunday Driver, bought new in 1955, and had @2,500 original miles on the odometer. Crazy.

And I also love the 3D Stereoscopic look of the panorama - I tried to do some similar shots today with the Samyang 135/2, but they didn't come out as well as yours. How many shots (rows and columns) and how much overlap? Maybe I didn't take enough...

My girlfriend. She's a bit wooden and doesn't talk much, but once you get to know her she's quite the gal. (Some elderly guy was re-painting portions of her on the sidewalk in Brooklyn Heights. A leeeetle creepy...)
