It never seemed to be a viable option with my 5d2 and zeiss 21mm combo, but now with a lighter camera and lenses it works. And its a quarter the weight of my lightest gitzo setup (Gt0540+BH25). Definitely needs the remote though; You don't want to touch this when its exposing.
Thank you beetlephoto, rsolti13, Manu, Michiel and others for comments and likes. As always, much appreciated and encouraging.
Few shots from Strathcona; one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods and one of its most culturally and economically diverse. It includes parts of the city’s dense, bustling Chinatown, borders one of Canada's poorest areas (the Downtown Eastside), and it has, in recent years, been a prime area for gentrification. For now, it's one on the favourite shooting spot for local and visiting (a note to ebrandon) photographers.
OK, let's get over this one first. I saw the flare (shot WO) in EVF but instead of moving left-right to avoid it, it's captured for a 'special effect'
Joshua, thank you for the kind words regarding the WATE
So many excellent images, with many different lenses!!!
Ryan, very nice with the 85 Contarex!!
Jack, great work with the 50 Lux Asph and A7r. I have not been so lucky on my A7r, with mid to far distances there is smearing, even at f/8. For close to medium, it is awesome!
Update: I tested the 50 Lux Asph again this morning, with 4 different adapters, 2 Novoflex and 2 Metabones with the A7r. One of Novoflex adapters with the 50 Lux Asph seemed to work very nicely, even compared to the M240. The other 3 ( 1 Novoflex and 2 Metabones) adapters, I did have some issues.
Awesome Jack. I especially love the door and chair shots. So much character in these.
tjack, the alley shot is real nice. Look at that DR !
wfrank, both the car shots are great.
Got my Amazon used A7 in with a *bonus* 32GB memory card left in the camera! (blank). Sweet.
That said - is it just me, or is the EVF sensor way too sensitive?! Seriously - I literally thought the rear LCD was broken because I couldn't get it to come on ....then I figured out I have to freaking hold it almost 8 inches away from my chest! What the hell!
Anyway, a couple with the Minolta 35-70/3.5 Macro - I finally get to see how it performs on FF (not bad so far).
Love the IQ coming out of the camera - unsure if I can overcome this EVF sensor though. It effectively kills any hope of waist-level shooting.
Charles, to be honest, I took only 2-3 test shots with Lux 50 at f/8 (the lens is so sharp wide open that I didn't even think of stopping to down past f/2.8) but using the latest Voigtlander M-> E adapter I haven't noticed any noticeable smearing issues so far.
BTW, how to you find the Elmarit-R 28 v2 character wise?
Jack, another very nice capture! There is obviously issues with different adapters, but my 50 Lux with one adapter now is excellent also. Sometimes it takes seeing some excellent results to recheck the setup, and question the variability in the adapters, particularly for lenses like the 50 Lux.
The 28 Elmarit R VII is an amazing lens too. The character is typical Leica, and needs a different workflow for PP'ing. Great lens BTW

Why not switch to Monitor Only for waist level shooting.
